The Future of the Arts is in Collectives.

Let's face it. We need each other.

The notion that each artist ought to carve themselves as ‘original’ and be totally ‘unique’ is rather dated. This pressure we put upon ourselves is vain, egocentric, self-deprecating and also anti-nature.

Couldn’t we instead busy ourselves in exploring ways to find creatives whose ‘purpose’ matches and resonates with our innate ‘purpose’? Together tap into this pool of collective knowledge to craft new, hybrid, diverse and sustainable ways of expression and storytelling.

The future of the arts, as the future of the world, lies in coming together. In becoming a cohort. A collective.

The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030 has a list of 17 global goals. Personally, I know so many artists, creatives and arts organisations who are committed to one (or more) of these goals.

If people with the same drive & purpose come in dialogue and collectively share their ideas, networks and resources; we will all be able to achieve more, contribute more solidly towards the joint action with hopefully a substantially reduced carbon footprint.
