Future of application development – Low Code No Code

Recently for one of the pilot project I had the opportunity to go beyond the box to develop a prototype for a web application to track process execution, which would then be a feeder to one of the data products for analytics. Typically the development of such applications is done using web technologies that need to be deployed on the appropriate hardware and thus induce lock-ins. Furthermore these are developed using a skilled resource and thus capacity constraints.

Most of times the best value from such products can be extracted if you pivot your perspective and view the requirements as value discovery problem that requires the requester to feel and see the outcome which in turn generate rich ideas later. The lost opportunity with these traditional web technologies in such cases is to be able to iterate faster as well as with better collaborations and therefore joint ownership of the product between the business and the IT stakeholders.

That’s where I dabbled with this Low Code-No Code options. And it was pleasantly surprising both in terms of the agility in both to develop and as well as incorporate feedback, the enhance collaboration, abstraction from the overheads and most importantly the enhanced customer satisfaction. All these with proper security checks and balances. Further these skills can be easily acquired by members not only from IT but say power users from business as well. These development platforms are extremely promising from creativity, productivity as well as user satisfaction and therefore should be explored before reaching out to traditional development approaches.

As always the TCO has to be compared with the business value being created in order to take balanced decisions.

Agree Arun... Low Code / No code has evolved over the last decade. From a concept / tool to create simple apps using visual drag and drop elements > platforms that support the entire agile development / deployment process with the pre req security and scalability that is needed to deploy very complex workflow applications. Extremely useful to involve business users to try out new process, execute design thinking outcomes before moving them to full fledged development and deployment. I have the experience of working with one such platform and seen very good success and ROI that can accrue to organizations from such platforms.

Arun Wadhawan I'd urge you to test out #HyperIntelligence within your environment on your data to appreciate the power of MicroStrategy platform. #ZeroCode #ZeroScripting #LessThanAWeek
