Is the future already here? Apple Vision Pro, is it the next level of technology?
On June 5th, Apple launched WWDC23, on which they introduced a number of new hardware and software, but among all, the Apple Vision Pro undoubtedly drew the most attention of the whole world.
Apple Vision Pro is based on VR, AR, and MR technology. From what's shown on the WWDC, it could be a new generation of devices. The question is, is Apple changing the world again? Is Apple Vision Pro the next generation of display devices?
VR devices are not a brand new section of technology, in fact, Google has been developing such devices 10 years ago. In recent years, brands like Pico, Sony, Google, HTC, and Meta have already been battling in this industry. The main advantages and differences between Apple Vision Pro and other brands are clear, we can already see that once launched, it would be the strongest competitor in the industry.
1. The front panel of Vision Pro is made of transparent glass, people can still see your eyes through the glass, and you can also see the outside world directly
2. Vision Pro can be operated entirely by gestures and voice. There are multiple sets of cameras and volumetric light sensors on the front, which can accurately locate your gestures and positions, without the need for additional controls such as remote controls.
3. Vision Pro is equipped with M2 and R1 chips, which provide it with the fastest and strongest computing ability. With the algorithm cultivated by Apple, Vision Pro owns the best performance in VR devices. From the WWDC, we can already see a lot of amazing real-application scenarios, which covers the need of working, entertaining, daily life, professional usage, etc
4. Relying on Apple's ecosystem and developer platform, Vision Pro will be able to carry a number of software specially developed for it in the future, realizing countless possibilities.
However, words also have it that the main pain point and concerns about VR devices remain unsolved even in Apple Vision Pro. The eye exhaustion problem, for example, is not mentioned in WWDC. For most users, it normally causes dryness and serious exhaustion to the eyes after 30-60 min use. And long-term using VR devices causes a heavy burden on eyesight and may cause short-sight or other more serious problems.
We are not sure if Apple is going to change the world again until the Vision Pro is actually launched and tested by the market and consumers. But undoubtedly, Apple Vision Pro is a huge progress in technology.
