The Future of AI- Is It Safe or A Threat to Humanity
Artificial intelligence is consciously on everybody’s mind nowadays. I have known the significant pattern of technology over the years, I have also noticed the increase of AI in demand. Many of us believe that AI conjures up sci-fi fantasies, while no one can predict the gamut of how exactly it will evolve in the future. Today, AI already works around us, impacting everything connected with our life. Data reveals that the use of AI in business has grown by 270% since four years. I have been wondering what AI in the future hold? With the advancement of computers and technology, it brings a fear that human workers will become obsolete. The reality is not less atrocious but even more complicated. AI has become a catchall term to describe the tasks or solving problems that require human intelligence. Last year in 2020, Microsoft had replaced journalists with Artificial Intelligence. It had announced a layoff to several journalists from their MSN to replace with AI. It was demoralizing where machines can replace humans, but Microsoft automated this at full –speed. One of the software journalists rightly said that AI had taken algorithms to a new level where algorithms can change the responses to the data written, displaying intelligence. Not only in the world of tech, but AI is becoming a trendsetter in all businesses. In recent times, during conversations with the client or other businesses, there is a fallacious argument about how people think about AI. For many, it is a phenomenon that is likely to impact only the tech world. 90% of the businesses have ongoing investment in AI technologies reporting greater productivity. AI is likely to have a substantial impact on other sectors like: Cybersecurity Medical Automotive E-commerce Journalism Job search Additionally, the technology of AI has constantly been scrutinized for making biased decisions in multiple businesses. On one side where Elon Musk believes that AI is the biggest existential threat to humans, the CEO of IFM’s, Gyongyosi, says that humans will no longer have to train the systems as they evolve on their own. He adds that currently, these machines are not a threat to humans. If you are tech-savvy, it would be wise to dive into the AI space and learn where your skills lie to recognize that AI impacts your abilities. AI will stay for a more extended period whether we like it or not. Personally, being in this industry for years, I don’t see any threat and the best way to adapt is to be around the new technology. The current development and new technologies paint a different picture of how AI will eventually become a part of every human being.
