The future of AI is impressive, but concrete benefits are here now
As much as AI has changed our lives over the past few years, we’ve really only scratched the surface of AI innovation. Take the emerging area of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), for example, a form of AI that moves from automating calculations--as it does today--to actually making choices in a way not unlike how humans solve problems. Still in the research stage, AGI can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide range of tasks, and can independently solve problems and adapt to new situations without the need for specific programming. This technology has the capacity to transfer learning from one domain to another, demonstrating a form of intelligence that is versatile, broadly applicable, and unlike anything we’ve seen before.
There is, of course, plenty more AI innovation on the horizon. But when it comes to positively impacting your organization, AI in its current state offers benefits that you can take advantage of today. Here are just a few examples of what we have seen at OpenText where AI can help you move forward.
As many of us have witnessed, public sector organizations don’t rank high in citizen experience. But thanks to generative AI, change is afoot. Generative AI-fueled bots can help create efficiencies with external and internal process flows, giving citizens answers to their inquiries faster and more accurately.
Combined with the shift among government agencies away from siloed information toward an enterprise, end-to-end approach to information management – which makes information easier to find, more secure, and more reliable – the adoption of generative AI can significantly improve online government service delivery. Digital twins have been around for a while, as part of the product design process, but generative AI is transforming how users interact with them. Generative AI is allowing engineers and maintenance teams to literally have conversations with their products.
The ability to monitor, control and adjust physical equipment through a 3D virtual representation is transforming through life support models. And AI is learning through digital twins how physical models should operate in real life, and based on historical data is?able to fine tune physical equipment for optimum performance. Read more.

AI and machine learning are at the forefront of healthcare innovation. AI-driven predictive analytics can identify patients at high risk for specific health conditions or readmissions. By analyzing vast datasets and recognizing patterns that may elude human practitioners, AI can help prioritize interventions and preventive measures.
Machine learning algorithms can enhance the efficiency of administrative tasks, such as revenue cycle management and claims processing to reduce errors, speed up processes, and ultimately lowers costs. And AI-enabled chatbots and virtual assistants are being employed for patient engagement and education to answer questions, provide reminders, and assist with medication management, promoting adherence to treatment plans. In an industry often criticized for being slow to embrace innovation, pharmaceutical companies are now looking to AI to drive drug discovery and clinical development. AI can enable faster decision-making by predicting drug efficacy, side effects, and more. AI even can inform clinicians of what drugs not to pursue, focusing resources back on projects that are more promising, and ultimately improving patient care in the long term. Read more.
Can you even remember what it was like to shop online without product recommendations popping up? AI continues to redefine the shopping experience with chatbots and virtual shopping assistants that have evolved to understand customer preferences, offer product suggestions, and provide real-time assistance.
At the back end, AI enhances inventory management, optimizes supply chains, and forecasts demand, enabling retailers to stock the right products in the right quantities, reducing both overstock and out-of-stock issues. Read more .

8 个月This post covers many areas related to the advantages of using AI, but one area is clearly missing: IT Operations Management. This is an area where analytic and predicitive AI have already contributed significantly, and where Generative AI can increase the utility of OpenText solutions even more for many roles - technical staff, managers and end users. Perhaps a topic for a separate newsletter?

9 个月Wow, what a great post! I was blown away by how AI changes the world in many ways. I agree that AI has a huge potential to benefit our society and environment. I am super excited about the idea of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which is a breakthrough for creativity and innovation. I am curious to know more about the challenges and risks of developing and deploying AGI, and how we can make sure that it is in harmony with human values and ethics.
