Futsal Tips - Creating an identity (Part 1.2)

PART 1.2: MODEL OF GAME - OFFENSIVE MODEL - TRANSITIONS ATTACK

Today I want to talk about the offensive tactical concepts involve in a definition of the offensive model of our team. I want to refresh that we are trying to create an identity model based on an offensive and defensive model.

The first thing to do is to be sure about what kind of offensive system we want to work. As we explain in the part 1: model of game - offensive and defensive model, there are two different attack systems: transition attack or positional attack.

A transition attack system is whichever offensive movement that comes after a ball recovery and that is done in a short time trying to produce a superiority after the ball recovery. I recommend to work transition attacks using general rules and specific concepts for every superiority situation. First of all, we need to define what kind of general rules we will use, rules like amplitude, depth and offensive heights. After that, we can talk about 4 different superiorities: 2x1, 3x2, 4x3 and using the goalkeeper.

  • 2x1 superiority. I recommend to use similar offensive height between the two players instead of different heights.

The defender could jump to the pass line and produce an 1x1 situation (reducing the space).

If we use similar heights the defender has more problems to jump the pass line and reduce the space, then we can generate more 1xG (goalkeeper) situations.

  • 3x2 superiority: I recommend use concepts like wings in different heights and depth.

We are trying to produce 3 offensive heights with one wing in deep and generating a big space between the 2 defenders. At the end we want to produce 2x1 situations in a reduced offensive space.

  • 4x3 superiority: I recommend a structure 2-2 with 2 player in deep in different heights and 2 players with amplitude giving pass line.

This kind of situations appear several times in a match and then we need to train it. This situation can be produced by two ways: recovering a ball and after a shot.

The main goal is to move the ball as fast as possible to one of the offensive corners and trying to produce a 2x1 situation. Why a 2-2 structure instead another one?

Because we want to produce a 2x1 situation in a big space, trying to difficult the first defense. The reaction to the others defenders is to go back and then they are producing a space in the creation zone. After that movement we need to move quickly the ball to one offensive corner.

  • Working with the goalkeeper: I can imagine what are you thinking.. the goalkeeper? Yes! Imagine that situation: a corner, we are defending with an structure 2-1-1, there is a shot and the goalkeeper blocks the ball. What could happen next? A transition...

If you want to learn more about the transition offensive system you can enroll to this online course "Learning transition system" through ANEFS' online platform (available in english!!).

Next week I want to detail the offensive concepts related to the positional attack system 3-1 or 4-0 based on: individual basics, dualities, triangles and rules.
