The Fusion of Visual Media in eLearning
Today’s eLearning authoring programs create a rich mix of video, images, audio, and HTML to create a wide range of rich interactions and media. So much so that we have invented a new title some Instructional Designers adopt: Learning Experience Designer.
Why is this important and what does it mean?
In the eLearning business, we strive to enhance the “experience” our learners encounter. Consider this: When learning, would you rather click through a slide deck with words and a few pictures, or enter a learning environment designed to be informative, fast-paced, engaging, and fun?
And here’s the truth about workplace learners. They always prefer the latter and they learn and retain more.
It means Instructional Designers are very creative today. There are many modern tools to help create the stimulating, engaging learning environments students crave. Have you tried mixing media from some of these tools? Your computer can become a studio for creating magic!
Consider tools like eLearning authoring software, image editors, and video editors. My own toolbox contains Articulate 360, Vyond Studio, TechSmith Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Suite. With AI integrations in each of them plus enhanced AI tools you can purchase separately, there is nothing stopping you from building crowd-pleasing and effective eLearning courses.
Are they worth the investment? Absolutely. For both freelancers and employees, these tools can enhance your career and help you increase your income.
