Technical Advantages

1.Visible UI of GPON ONT Management on TV Screen

There would be an APP on Android TV box, through which it can show the GPON ONT connection status, and enable changes such as SSID name etc.

2. BOM Axing

Besides the Package, Casing, Power Adaptor, RJ45 Connector etc, Android Box is utilizing the LAN output directly from GPON ONT. Thus WiFi Module& Antenna is no longer necessary. In parallel, the GPON ONT has WiFi router function. The Combo Box would smoothly support Airplay like function via DLNA etc protocol. As WiFi 6 is taking more percentage of the market share in Android TV box, the cost saving from BOM would be more obvious.

3. Remote Diagnosis&Management

Operator would be easier to control the device remotely such as getting working status information and reboot.

Technical Concerns

Product Flexibility and defectiveness

1.Flexibility:

ONT and Android TV box might have mismatching life cycle. How to manage the change of GPON ONT& Android TV spec separately? And will the diversity of GPON ONT& Android TV spec combinations be flex to reach? What if the order volume each time is not big, for medium and small sized operator, so as to support a customization project?

2. Maintenance:

Especially the software upgrade, Android TV part might count by Quarter while GPON ONT by Year

3. After-sales&Repair :

Will the defectiveness rate multiple, compared with each device defectivness rate separately?In case of defectiveness, shall I swap the whole board? Will it become more complicated to repair?

Solutions From Product Design:

1.Loose Type Design for more flexibility (Demo purpose)

Android TV board and GPON ONT board would be separated, which maintain majority of each board's original design. The physical connection between two boards would be for Power Supply, LAN connection, simplified.

Flexibility: ONT and Android TV box might have mismatching life cycle. How to manage the change of GPON ONT& Android TV spec separately? And will the diversity of GPON ONT& Android TV spec combinations be flex to reach? What if the order volume each time is not big, for medium and small sized operator, so as to support a customization project?

Answer: As long as the connection is defined, it would be flexible to modify either Android TV part or GPON ONT part separately. It makes no difference for development of two separate devices.

Maintenance: Especially the software upgrade, Android TV part might count by Quarter while GPON ONT by Year

Answer: Software upgrade is be separate.

After-sales&Repair :Will the defectiveness rate multiple, compared with each device defectivness rate separately?In case of defectiveness, shall I swap the whole board? Will it become more complicated to repair?

Answer:With such loose board design, it makes no difference for After-sales and Repair.

2. Flexible Type Based on Loose Type (Mass Production)

Considering stability, future extension, we'd replace the cable between two boards via PIN connectors with two additional GPIO.

3. Fusion Type (Customized Project)

It would be one board solution based on project. It can further enable the PCBA size smaller.
