"PICTURE-MY-THOUGHT{s}" - I'm "directing" a personal SALUTE "write"- here re: Broadway's HAROLD (HAL) PRINCE
HAROLD PRINCE: 1974 saw the production of CANDIDE that was directed by HAROLD PRINCE. Harold Prince replied back-to-me in 1974 sending me a CANDIDE PLAYBILL that he himself signed.
1979 was the beginning of the Broadway production of SWEENEY TODD. By the way, I starred in the Mattituck North Fork Community Theatre’s {NFCT} 1999 production of SWEENEY TODD as the lead bass Chorus singer. That NFCT production was directed by DAVID MARKEL!
KINDLY NOTE: HAROLD PRINCE has been recognized as the TOP-earning Tony Award winner having earned twenty-one Tony Awards. He is truly some outstanding director and producer who takes the time consistently to make others involved in his productions truly become exceptional thespians in their own right. {Take for example Broadway’s CABARET actress PEG MURRAY. She won a TONY AWARD herself for her performance in that 1960s musical AND CABARET was directed by HAROLD PRINCE. PEG MURRAY went on to play the mother role of Golda in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF that was directed by HAROLD PRINCE, and PEG MURRAY ran as Golda for three years! Peg Murray formed the Greenport NY Northeast Stage Theatre Company, having written and directing productions for that Company. I had the true pleasure of co-working with PEG MURRAY with her Northeast Stage Company and she often remarked how HAL PRINCE was so beneficial with helping performers. PEG was a recent resident in Southold, and I wish her well!}
HAROLD PRINCE directed - WHAT HAD BEEN - due-to-COVID-19 causing a Broadway shut-down - the longest-running Broadway production: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - {!} -
In case you aren’t aware: Southold Jr.'Sr. High School was presenting THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA as a Youth Production March 8, 9, & 10 {2018!} {all at 7 p.m.} PLUS Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. This production was directed by JESSICA ELLWOOD and CASEY ROONEY - and the Musical Direction was by KELLI BAUMANN. Kelli was my accompanist in 1990 when I was Fagin in OLIVER! at the Mattituck North Fork Community Theatre {NFCT}.
Tickets for the Southold High School production for THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA were available at Southold Free Library!
I did mail a letter to HAROLD PRINCE including programs for HAROLD PRINCE to hopefully-be-able to sign -&- RETURN. In that letter to Mr. Prince -TOO - I shared about the Southold Jr./Sr. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Youth production. HAROLD PRINCE ORGANIZATION rep BEN HOLTZMAN sent me this above-letter.
I WAS ABLE TO HEAR-BACK from BEN HOLTZMAN. He requested that I DO-SEND the HAROLD PRINCE ORGANIZATION office a copy of the Southold Jr./Sr. High School THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Youth Production program. - I suggested to Ben that it would honestly-be-so-appropriate for HAROLD PRINCE ORGANIZATION archives. "PICTURE-{MY}-THOUGHT{s}" - The program was returned to me by BEN HOLTZMAN and HAL PRINCE signed it. {THANKSALATEE Ben!} {KELLI BAUMANN - I'm going-to give this program to YOU when the time-is "write" due to COVID-19.}
BEN HOLTZMAN also did get-back-to-me with this THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA PLAYBILL that I did send the HAROLD PRINCE ORGANIZATION after my friend ROBERT STANONIS -&- I attended a Saturday matinee of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
