In 2024, the pet care industry has reached unprecedented heights. Pets are no longer just beloved companions but are being treated like family members, with owners sparing no expense to ensure their furry friends live a life of luxury. From chartered flights to robot assistants, the pet care market has become a haven for innovation and extravagance. ?
Some of these brands out there are truly wild.
Fasten your seatbelts and lessgooo...
#1: Luxury airline!
Problem: Animals infamously have it very bad when it comes to travel. Furbulence can get ruff. ??
Bark, a dog toy brand, partnered with a private jet charter company to make travel turbulence-free for dogs!
The amenities are strange… but genius:
And canine champagne? Idk what that is but it sounds refreshing
Before a flight, they contact the pet parents to get to know their ‘passengers’ better:
?? Are they friendly?
?? Do they prefer to be alone?
?? Do they have any particular likes or dislikes?
Based on their personalities, seats are assigned so every dog can have a pleasant experience. I’m not making this up!
(meanwhile you, human, can enjoy fighting for the arm-rest with the person next to you ????)
It goes without saying, these Bark flight tickets are very very expensive. But Bark’s POV is that the travel industry needs innovation.
Any innovation starts out as expensive.
But if demand picks up:
more investment kicks in
more brands enter
and eventually prices become better
Eventually, a day will come when dog-friendly travel is accessible for everyone.
Until then, anyone else tripping on canine champagne? ??
#2: Tech for pets!
Problem: What do pets do all day when their humans set off to work?
Brands are using AI to come up with crazy solutions to improve a dog’s quality of life.
(I had no idea some of these ideas were even a thing! Lmk which of these were new for you)
Exhibit A: ORo
It’s a robot that’s your dog’s assistant. Yes. You read that right.
So it plays fetch, runs around, and even displays the dog owner’s face so they don’t feel lonely.
It’s 2024. Of course dogs use tech now.

Exhibit B: One by One
Aka a music streaming service… for dogs.
You know how Spotify makes playlists based on genres? This service makes playlists based on different dog breeds.
What it will cost humans? $8 a month.
Exhibit C: Minitailz
What smartwatches are to humans, Minitailz is to dogs.
It’s a dog collar that tracks dogs’ heart rates and generates pet reports. Plus it has a GPS live tracker, kind of like a Find My iPhone but for your dogs.
Honestly, this sounds pretty useful.
#3: Interior design… for pets!
Problem: Idk. I’m not sure if this is solving a problem tbh. Let’s call it an unmet need: Pet-centric architecture.
Or ‘Barkitechture’ as the viral trend goes. ????
Brands are out there helping you combine your home decor needs with your pet’s needs.
Think custom dog showers.
Because why should a dog use human bath tub.
Or mini ‘dog condos’
Because human siblings can share a room, but a dog deserves space.
Or a customised dining table so your pet dines with you, in style.
You get the drift.
The idea is to make pets feel like it’s their home
(No offence to any human who went through childhood fighting for personal space??)
Who started this trend?
A real estate agent in California. He turned his closet into an indoor dog house and his account blew up! He’s now a legit pet influencer with hotels like Hilton working with him on their pet-friendly hotels.
Safe to conclude with one undisputable fact: don’t know where humanity is headed but our pets are def getting bougie!
