Fundraising at work in the Lockdown

Fundraising at work in the Lockdown

Xmas is nearly upon us and with so many of us working remotely it’s not easy to take part in our normal festive events. Lots of our supporters are using Xmas as a way to fundraise and we have come up with some great ideas that we thought you could use.

Christmas card donations - Rather than spending money Xmas cards why not make a real difference by donating all or part of what you would normally spend on Christmas cards.

Secret Santa - Instead of spending £10 on Secret Santa gifts, why not ask your colleagues to set the limit at £8 and have everyone donate £2 to Help for Heroes

Xmas Up your Home Office - Bring a bit of festive cheer to your online meetings and ask everyone to decorate their shelves/walls in the spirit of Christmas and get everyone involved in judging the winner. Each person pays an entry fee to get involved and the most creative décor wins a prize.

Festive Fancy Dress - Wearing a Christmas jumper or bobble hat at work is one of the simplest and most popular ways to fundraise during the festive period. Set an official date and ask everyone to make a small donation to take part. You could also hold a competition for the best festive dress!

Guess the Angel - Ask colleagues to bring/send in photos of themselves as a baby or toddler and then get everyone to guess who’s who for a £1 donation. You could even offer a prize for the person with the highest number of correct guesses!

Christmas shopping - Raise donations direct from the comfort of your own sofa? Shop through Amazon Smile, simply select Help for Heroes as your charity of choice and Amazon will make a donation directly to us! Visit: Amazon Smile. Similarly, if you’re shopping online at Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Argos, Dominos Pizza, Expedia and around 4000 other online outlets, by going through Easy Fundraising or Give as You Live and selecting Help for Heroes as your charity of choice, a donation will be made directly to us.

Donate your Xmas Party - Has Covid cancelled your staff Christmas party? So why not donate the unused cost of your Xmas party to the charity instead.

Want to help even more? - If you usually send out gifts for clients & suppliers, give them the option of donating the cost instead. You can even share how you are raising money and ask if they would like to get involved.

HOW YOUR MONEY CAN HELP

Your generosity means that we can continue to provide recovery and support in areas including:

  • Psychological Wellbeing – Giving Veterans and their loved ones access to advice, guidance and support for psychological distress, including stress, anxiety and depression.
  • Health & Physical Wellbeing – Offering therapeutic activities and education on healthy living
  • Welfare – Providing access to Key Workers to help Veterans and their families to live in safe, stable and affordable homes that are adapted to their needs; plus, support to help with budgeting and debt management
  • Training and employment support – Offering careers advice and coaching, to help Veterans learn new skills

And don’t forget to tell your friends, family and neighbours about this too!

I would love to hear about how you are fundraising so please email/message me and let me know how you are being creative with your fundraising. Or if this has inspired you to do some fundraising for Help for Heroes register your fundraising here: Your Fundraising
