Fundraising Strategy: Effective Donor Categorization
As you gear up for your summer outreach efforts, a key strategy to enhance your impact is effectively categorizing potential donors. This not only streamlines your approach but ensures you engage with the right people at the right time. Here’s a simple yet effective three-part ranking system to prioritize your contacts:
1. Relational Access: How well do you know this person? Rate your access and their likelihood of taking a meeting with you on a scale from 1 to 10.
2. Interest in Mission: Assess their enthusiasm for your mission. Are they likely to be invested in your goals? Score their interest level from 1 to 10.
3. Capacity to Contribute: Evaluate their ability to support your mission, considering factors like financial resources, time, and overall commitment. Again, score from 1 to 10.
Sum the scores for each contact and prioritize your outreach starting with the highest totals. This method helps you focus on those most likely to engage deeply and contribute meaningfully to your mission.
"The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities." – Stephen Covey
Spend some time this summer categorizing your contacts. Knowing where people stand before you reach out can significantly enhance your fundraising strategy and success!
