Fundraising for a service led charity
Fundraising is vital, events, marketing and promotional opportunities will get the charities name out in the public eye, raise vital funds and can help reach clients that may not know about your service.
For a service led charity there is a fine balance of becoming too much about the publicity and bumping the actual service that is offered down the list.
Why do people visit your charities webpage/social media pages, is it to see how much money has been made? Is it to seek out help and the use of the services offered?
It is a question that I ask myself constantly, it is very important to thank anyone who has given up their time, raised funds and helped support the charity, equally when someone needs support shouldn’t they be given a clear pathway to that vital help?
Yellow days, Green days, Orange days, there seems to be a day/month dedicated for every colour under the rainbow, but do these “awareness days” actually work? It’s great dressing up but if no message is actually spread about what “signs you should look for” or “what to do if you spot a warning sign” are these special days just in danger of becoming “another dress up day”
Balance, it’s the obvious answer or picking the right media, webpage = service, LinkedIn = service
Twitter = both Facebook = both.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts, as a charity with a tight budget, advice is a tool that is invaluable to us.
