Fundraising and the Joy of New Connections.

Fundraising and the Joy of New Connections.

The average person encounters 80,000 people in their lifetime, averaging about three people a day. However, the sad reality is that we often fail to engage with people on a meaningful, deep level. The beauty of fundraising is that it compels us to step out of our comfort zone and truly connect with others. Simon Sinek reminds us, “Life is beautiful not because of the things we see or do. Life is beautiful because of the people we meet.” The essence of life's beauty lies in the meaningful connections and relationships we forge with others, rather than in material possessions or solitary experiences. Fundraising introduces a unique dynamic, pushing us to build relationships with people we might otherwise overlook, given the fast-paced and individualistic nature of our culture.

Booker T. Washington highlighted that fundraising offers one of the most wonderful gifts: the opportunity to meet new people. Addressing the impact of meeting new people through fundraising, Mr. Washington said, "The effort to secure help from the Slater and Peabody Funds brought me into contact with two rare men—men who have had much to do in shaping the policy for the education of the Negro." He noted the profound impact of meeting people through fundraising, underscoring that the essence of fundraising lies in the joy of forming new connections.

As we celebrate Black History Month, let's remember that fundraising provides a special chance to meet new individuals. These encounters introduce us to remarkable people who have the potential not only to enrich our lives but also to make the world a better place.
