Fundraising for CHAINBREAKER18
Hello Friends, Family and Real Estate Colleagues!
The 100 mile ride for Chainbreaker 18 is tomorrow morning! I’ve logged over 1,700 miles on the bike seat this year in preparation for this and other bike events. I’m excited to see this finish line in sight!
Last week our team was able to meet at Surly for a short ride past the Masonic Cancer Center on the University of Minnesota campus (picture above). Our Team Sarcoma peloton consisting of 31 riders has raised over $60,000 and we’re pushing to hit the $75,000 mark. Please consider a donation – all contributions big or small are greatly appreciated and Chainbreaker directs 100% of every Rider-raised dollar to life-saving research at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. I’m personally grateful for the 60+ donors who have contributed over $4,600 to my fundraising efforts – well surpassing my initial goal.

I am excited to share with you that I've committed to ride 100 miles in Chainbreaker 18 and raise $1500 (or more) that will benefit cancer research! Chainbreaker directs 100% of every Rider-raised dollar to life-saving research at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota.
WHY I’M RIDING
I am riding the 100-mile course to raise money to help cure cancer and in honor of many family and friends who have bravely battled cancer; unfortunately, there are too many to list individually. However, a few stand out to me as I write this – my wife, Jamie, friends Alli and Andy, and Blake in my office who extended the invitation to ride with him for this fundraiser.
Jamie is a 15+ year survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma, the best wife and mother to our two kids, and the most caring and thankful person I know. Alli, a good friend of Jamie’s since grade school, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and with a positive attitude is currently undergoing chemo to beat it. Andy is a 7-year survivor of testicular cancer who raised a bunch of money for Livestrong while going through it. Andy is an all-around good dude and the person who got me into biking in 2011 and weekly riding buddy. Blake is the most recent cancer survivor in my circle and was a champ through the whole process, seeing it as a little road bump in life, all while still having impact on leading our Minneapolis office through treatments.
TRAINING
In preparation for Chainbreaker 18 on August 11, a lot of riding will take place leading up to it. There will be many casual rides and a handful of events to be sure I’m ready to go strong for Chainbreaker 18! Next up is The Lutsen 99er on June 23 – I’ll be riding the 69 mile route. This starts and ends on the Lutsen ski hill and traverses the gravel and duel track landscape inland of Lake Superior.
