A fundraising appeal for Cornwall’s first Disability Cricket Team has been extended this week following a donation of a signed Cricket Shirt from Worcester player Jake Libby.
The shirt is signed by Jake Libby, Azher Ali, Ben Cox, Brett D’Oliviera, Jack Haynes, Kashif Ali, Joe Leach, Josh Baker, Adam hose, Ed Pollock and Dillon Pennington. Tickets to the prize draw for a chance to win the shirt are part of the rewards being offered by Cornwall Cricket Board as part of their Crowdfunder campaign.??
The Crowdfunder launched at the end of May in a bid to raise funds to create a Disability Cricket Team for Cornwall and has since been extended to allow more people to donate to the cause.?
Cornwall Cricket Board is aiming to provide those that already take part in Disability Cricket with the opportunity to be able to grow their skills further by joining the Super 9’s County Representative Team and competing across the South West.?
To make this possible they need to raise in excess of £10,000 to cover the costs including cricket protection for all abilities and disabilities as well as travel expenses and venue hire.
Managing Director Joe Skinner said: “It is an exciting and important time for Cornwall Cricket with developing our disability cricket structure. We have had great success with engaging players over the last couple of years. Now, we have talented players who want to develop and play against other counties. Our ambition is to play in the ECB competitions and make cricket a game for all. To do this we need to raise considerable funds. Facilities and coaching is expensive and help is needed to make this objective possible. All help is gratefully appreciated, and we are thankful to Jake Libby and the Worcester players in providing us with a shirt to raffle. “
