'Funding Winter' Follows the 'Success Winter'

My friend, colleague, and collaborator Rahul Garg (MD, MBA) has written an interesting blog on Digital Health companies. We have been discussing this for many years, and I once discussed with him that we must analyze the failures amongst the digital health companies or SBUs of large corporations that failed in their digital health foray and write an article. He has done a good job through this blog, Failed ventures . It is very important to read this . But more important is to understand the reasons behind the so-called ' Funding Winter'. If you read this interesting blog, you will realize the long history of failed or discontinued ventures in Digital Health, and it is the Success Winter that has led to funding winter.

This has been building up for a while, and it will continue as health is not just another sector. In fact, most of the potential patients remain in denial mode till the problem becomes a pain. So, healthcare as a sector requires more than marketing!

We cannot let new-age health startups fail, or else the healthcare system has no hope for transformation. So, over the past six months, I have discussed with various global leaders, startup founders, and funders and started 'Mission SCALE'. This Ecosystem will be launched on the 2nd of September at the Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards during the session on startups. Startups have to move from 'fail to scale' , and this needs an ecosystem. I am really excited about this opportunity to help startups find the right direction and networks to ensure that we maximize the chances of success and minimize the chances of failure. Some startup ventures may fail, but not the majority. Mission Scale hopes to turn the tide from fail to scale and change the season from 'funding winter' to 'funding spring'. Let 1000s of digital health startups blossom and bloom. Let us make it happen together.
