Wellcome Connecting Science Learning and Training
Our career-enhancing events programme focuses on genomics in research and healthcare. ?? https://linktr.ee/eventswcs
Financial barriers should never stand in the way of your scientific career progression.
Everyone in the global genomics community has the right to access learning and training opportunities, enabling you to achieve your full professional potential, whatever your career stage.
We aim to remove as many financial barriers as possible for research and healthcare professionals looking to apply for one of our courses, or register for a place to attend one of our conferences.
We have two schemes open to all scientists that specifically address funding challenges:
We offer inclusive and supportive learning environments, designed to enable scientists across the globe access to the latest genomics research, tools and techniques, necessary to accelerate careers.
Single Cells, sequencing and samba in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Join our single cell community in Latin America!
Last year, 20 scientists from across Latin America joined us at the Instituto Nacional de Cancer (INCA) , in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for a free training course focusing on genomics tools and approaches in single cell biology. This became a remarkable sharing, networking, and mentoring experience, spearheading a vibrant new community, and fostering continued discussion and collaboration beyond the course.
In August 2024, we return to the state-of the-art laboratory facilities at INCA, offering another opportunity to access free and enriching training in the application of single cell technologies, tailored to Latin American populations.
Dr David Adams, Wellcome Sanger Institute, UK, and one of the lead organisers supporting us with the Single Cell Genomics course series, shares some insights below on how this training has been developed to benefit scientists working on genomics research in Latin America.
Exciting opportunity for bacteriologists working in Africa!
Expand your expertise, network with peers, and contribute towards advancing infectious disease research and diagnosis across Africa!
Following the resounding success of our 2023 'Molecular Approaches to Clinical Microbiology in Africa' training course, in Kenya, we are now offering another opportunity to join our team of experts at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, in September 2024.

"We have equipment in our institution which is not being used due to lack of skills. After this course I will now have requisite knowledge to initiate a plan to implement genomics technologies for detecting pathogens for the benefit of our community" - 2023 course participant testimony.
Don't be afraid to apply from wherever you are based in Africa, we welcome applications from across the continent (including from French and Portuguese-speaking countries); our instructors are able to assist with translation from English into other languages.
