How to choose proper EN12209 Mortise lock body to meet requirement of functions?

DIN Euro profile Mortise locks are widely use as they have affordable cost,high performance for different applications and multiple functions.

Today,we are going to introduce the most common functions of Euro profile Mortise lock and how to choose handles and cylinders to match with Mortise lock to achieve the door functions.

1.Sash lock(Most common in market)

Application:Entrance door,Bedroom,In-house Bathroom,Office door etc

Function:Latch bolt operated by Lever handle on either side.Deadbolt thrown and retracted by cylinder.

Using Key type cylinder are suitable for Entrance door,Bedroom,Office door etc.Using Bathroom cylinder is suitable for in-house Bathroom door.

2.Bathroom lock

Application:Public area Bathroom door like in Shopping mall,Hotel,Airport,School etc.

Function:Latch bolt operated by Lever handle at both side.Deadbolt operated by Thumb turn inside.An Indicator with emergency release is installed at door outside and can operate the deadbolt by using a coin or Slot screw driving in emergency.The Indicator will show the cubicle is available or occupied by Green/Red color.

There is no cylinder for this set so cylinder escutcheon is not needed.

3.Latch lock(Passage)

Application:Passage door where lock up function is not required.

Function:Latch bolt operate by lever handle at both sides.No deadbolt and No cylinder so no need cylinder escutcheon.

4.Deadbolt lock

Application:Equipment room,Cable room,Garbage room etc

Function:Deadbolt operated by cylinder.A flush ring pull install for grabbing the door.

5.Night latch lock

Application:Storeroom

Function:Latch bolt operate by inside Lever handle or Key.Suitable for doors where single side(inside) escape is required.Anti-thrust latch prevents forced latch bolt retraction.The Lever handle outside is dummy.

6.Classroom lock

Application:Classroom

Function:Latch bolt retracted by Lever from either side unless outside is locked by key.Unlocked from outside by key,Inside Lever handle always free for immediate exit.Anti-thrust latch prevents forced latch bolt retraction.

7.Roller bolt lock

Application:Connecting door in public area,Entrance door for public bathroom.(In day time,people can push/pull to open the door.In night,the door is locked.)

Function:Push/Pull the door to operate the roller bolt.Deadbolt operated by cylinder.
