Function Points (Software Size) come of Age: Mature, Stable, and Relevant
Did you know that Function Point Analysis (assessing a piece of software and sizing it based on an ISO standardized approaches) and the primary metrics association IFPUG (International Function Point Users Group) is now 30 years old?
It's said that time flies when you're having fun, and it's hard for me to believe that I was president of IFPUG from 1998-1999 and now I'm back on the board as the Director of Communication and Marketing! And that's where I get to be the hostess of our upcoming 30th anniversary celebration at the ISMA 14 conference in Cleveland, OH Sept 13-15, 2017.
Measurement and IT industry guru and author, Capers Jones, is headlining our conference on Sept 15 - and will share his knowledge about Function Points as a Universal Metric gleaned from his career spanning the globe and featuring thousands of clients through the years. Capers is publishing his 17th non-fiction IT book imminently, and seldom travels to speak anymore so it is with pride and appreciation that he will grace our stage.
I'm also speaking at the conference with industry pro Dan French (who chairs the standards committee that refreshes and updates the Function Point guidance documents to ensure they remain relevant for today's technologies!) - on the topic of this post.
