Fun with Projection Mapping

This has been my first semester as full-time faculty at GCU, and I was thinking of what we could do for Motion Design projects. Richie Jimenez and I we were kicking around ideas, one of which was to introduce Projection Mapping to the animation students. We reached out to Bill Symington (Dept Chair for the Theatre Program) and Cyndi Calhoun (Director for Mary Poppins) and they said yes! We then assembled a team of animation and motion design students who stepped up to deliver a number of backgrounds and animated elements to support the strong work done by the Theater Production students led by Klay Wandelear inside a 5-wk start to Opening Night. The talented cast and performers did a fantastic job, leading to multiple sold-out shows.
