Why Nitinol?

Nitinol is a metal alloy of nickel and titanium, where the two elements are present in roughly equal percentages. The alloy undergoes deformation and then heated, here it moves from martensite to austenite. In the austenite phase the metal “remembers” the shape is had before it was deformed. It′s memory shaped properties are essential, as small insertions mean easier implementation, and shorter restitution time for the patient.
