Community Benefit Funds: In 2024, solar projects are expected to contribute €1.6 million to Community Benefit Funds, supporting local initiatives such as renewable energy projects and community development. This contribution could rise to €15 million annually by 2030, significantly enhancing community support and engagement.
2. Commercial Rates: Solar energy projects are projected to generate between €4.3 million and €5.4 million in commercial rates for local authorities in 2024. By 2030, this figure is expected to soar to €51 million annually, providing essential funding for public services and local infrastructure.
3. Tax Contributions: The solar industry is set to generate approximately €63 million in employment-related taxes in 2024, contributing to national economic growth. Over the period from 2025 to 2030, total tax contributions are projected to reach €344 million, reinforcing the financial stability of our public services.
4. Job Creation: Currently, the solar sector supports between 5,480 and 6,440 jobs across Ireland, with the potential to exceed 7,130 jobs by 2030. Total payments to labour in the Irish economy from solar activities could reach up to €1.4 billion over the period of 2025-2030.

By 2030, the combined economic benefits of the solar industry—including community funding, tax contributions, commercial rates, and job creation—could amount to €621 million annually, making solar a key driver of Ireland’s economic and community development.
