A full guide on social media presence for a modern business.

Just as I have promised here is the guide to making your business stand out in the online jungle and attract customers. Now, be aware that the only thing that I missing from your list is your participation - this means that it is a variable and a really important one. To achieve great results you have to spend time doing all these things or finding a specialist who will take your worries. That said - let's begin!

Social Media my friend, social media...

It's crucial for a business to have some sort of social media if not all of them. If you are a small brand - you can build an audience and attract customers. If you are a big business then you can maintain relationships, build trust and attract potential employees through social media. It is inclusive and it is for everyone! So go on and create some social media accounts!

  1. LinkedIn (must-have for a business)
  2. Instagram
  3. Twitter (good news and live updates to your audience)
  4. Pinterest (it is the biggest picture searching engine out there, make use of it to generate traffic)
  5. Facebook

If you have all these set up, then let's jump to the next step.

You guessed it right, it's a Website

Now don't even try to ask me why you need a website. Because if you do, I will make an hour-long video explaining to you the importance of websites until you'll understand. Got it?

And just for the sake of saying this - don't cheap out on your website. Of course, you can build your site on Squarespace, Wix, or some other platform. They will function and they will also look great but this won't be special, everyone will know that your site was made on some cheap platform and that is just simply unprofessional. There is nothing wrong with starting out using this platform, but remember switching down the line will be a lot harder than just don't it right from the start. A good website will cost you around $1000. You can get it for cheaper but this is the average price for a decent website that will make you some money.

Next step: CRM

What the heck is CRM you might ask. Well, it is customer relationship management, there are a lot of good CRM systems out there and they allow you to communicate, track, and manage all your interactions with customers. Big niche companies often develop their own CRM systems which are specially built for their tasks and they do it perfectly. But if you are just starting out you will get more than enough from a general CRM System.

Psst... by the way, almost every site builder has one integrated, just saying...

Now that you have your basics let's jump to advanced stuff.

SEO & Ads

It's time to spend some money. We came to probably the most expensive step in our guide, which is also very important. When you get your website, go out and find an SEO expert and hire them. The goal is to bring your website SEO score from wherever you are right now to between 80 - 100. And of course, you will need some backlinks, a lot of them...

It will cost you money, let's say a good SEO expert will charge you anything from $25 to $125/hour. Don't overspend but definitely don't skip this step, otherwise, your efforts will be useless if no one can find your website on Google.

Now that you got your SEO we can start advertising you and your business

Get your money and throw it at google. As simple as that. Well not quite, you will need an ads specialist. Google, Facebook, etc. you will need at least one of them, best all of them.

So spend some time testing your ads and spending money. When you have a working strategy go for it. Set a minimum amount a day of what you are willing to spend (and for god's sake don't type in $1, it will bring you nothing) Choose a healthy amount between $10 - $100, and let Google do its magic.

Google Business, Clutch, Xing, Kununu, and other stuff...

After you have done all of the above it is time to get some recognition and validation. This is what all of those services are for. Get your Google Business account if you have a physical location. And don't forget about the Clutch, Xing, and other platforms. Get your customers to leave a review and ask your employees to create the working experience at the firm on Kununu. This way new employees will see that the firm has a good reputation and treats the Staff right.

Now you are all set. Take care of your online reputation, social media, and SEO. Post regularly and overall be active, it will pay off!

Thank you so much for reading this week's edition of my newsletter, next week I will tell you all do's and dont's while posting on social media.
