Full Fat's Weekly Digital Bulletin - 29/04

Introducing the first in our weekly Digital Bulletin series.Bringing you the freshest insights, app developments and trends sweeping social media platforms across the country, so you can level up your strategy and ensure you’re always ahead of the curve.

This week, there are some tweaks to Twitter, Instagram continues to chop and change, and yet another list of TikTok recs. Keep calm and carry on reading for the low down.

Food for thought:

  1. Instagram changes their algorithm…again - Who else can’t keep with IG’s algorithm changes? Here’s the latest update; original content is now being pushed. What does this mean? In short, reposted content might be left behind - social media managers, put your pitchforks down! We can’t say for certain what this will look like, but we’ll stick around to find out and update you.
  2. Meta’s ‘Community for Brands’ playbook - Building and tapping into communities online is a huge part of being a brand on social media. But sometimes we can get stuck on how exactly we should be tapping into these communities and how we can build our brand. Well, Meta has decided to give us a helping hand and provide a playbook for us to live by. Have a read through and let us know what tips you are going to be using…
  3. Climate change denial banned on Twitter - Earth Day 2022 marked the day that Twitter announced that any ads which contradict scientific evidence of climate change and its impacts will be banned. Which should already be the case, if we’re being totally honest. But this could be the first steps towards more platforms introducing an official policy towards this subject. What do you think, unspoken rule,or platform policies that are most definitely needed?

Extra, extra! Read all about it:

  1. Twitter’s new owner - HUGE NEWS BUT NO NEED TO PANIC, (everyone remain calm).? As you’ve probably heard by now, Twitter has been bought by none other than Elon Musk. This deal between Musk and Twitter is worth $44 billion - yes, you heard us right, we said $44 billion!! And Elon has plans to change Twitter and ‘enhance the platform to its full potential’. Have a read through and see exactly what is in store for one of our fave platforms.
  2. Musical comments on Facebook? - A couple of users on Facebook have noticed a pop up notification in the app letting them know that they can add music into their comments, in order to add context to their replies. Could this be a useful addition to the platform, or will this get super annoying super quickly? Take a look at the article and let us know what you think.
  3. Instagram’s pinned posts - TikTok has had this feature for a while now and it has proved useful for influencers and brands and now Instagram have finally announced a live test of the new option to pin posts to the top of your profile. Will you be pinning any hawt selfies for your IG fanbase? *Scrolls frantically through camera roll*

?Have you seen this yet?:

  1. Gen See Beauty vegan brand - The talk around sustainability is growing by the second and Gen See Beauty is the new vegan beauty brand on the scene. Giving us all things eyes and lips, we’re super excited to see where this goes. Have a look at their store here and let us know what you’ll be adding to your basket. Debit cards at the ready!
  2. High tech fitness mirrors - Oh, what will they come up with next? Introducing the 6ft high tech mirrors that contain a computer. The idea is that you’ll be able to connect to the internet, or with an online trainer who will appear on the mirror/screen (horrifying).? We see the vision and it could be a really cool addition to a home gym (for all of us lucky to have one of them, lol) and could inspire more exercise but would you invest in one?
  3. TikTok recipes that are worth the hype - Who else has a list of recipes found on TikTok to try out? Yeah, we’re all guilty of it. From salmon rice bowls to custard toast (WILD) FoodTok has provided it all. But no one wants to waste time and money on recipes that don’t work out the way we want them to. Well, as always, we’ve got your back.. Check out the article to find out which recipes are worth your time and which ones need to be removed from your digital cookbook.

Suggestions in terms of what you'd like to see included in next week’s bulletin, or want to chat all things digital? Feel free to drop a member of the team a line!

Have a great bank holiday weekend all!
