Bringing you the freshest insights, app developments, and trends sweeping social media platforms across the country, so you can level up your strategy and ensure you’re always ahead of the curve.

This week saw sheep visiting bars, more developments in TikTok and the return of some public figures we would rather not see on social media again… Read on for more!?

Food for thought:

  1. Donald Trump is back on YouTube and using Facebook again: Trump has made his way back to Youtube after he was introduced back to Twitter and Meta platforms. The former president, who isn’t known to be short of words, returned exclaiming “I’m back!”YouTube has responded to criticism by saying: "We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run-up to an election." Will you be hitting that like and subscribe button??
  2. The BBC Calls for Staff to Remove TikTok from Corporate Devices : This week sees another potential TikTok ban, this time it’s a bit closer to home. The BBC has asked staff members to remove the app from their work phones, as the privacy controversy continues. Who will be next to implement the ban?

Extra, extra! Read all about it:

  1. TikTok Will Now Enable You to Start Over in the App by Refreshing Your Algorithmic Recommendations: Caught on rosemaryoiltok, silverspringstok or cheesetaxtok? No… us neither Thankfully we, I MEAN YOU, can restart your algorithm to steer away from the random TikTok trends. The update hopes to give users more freedom to choose what they want to spend hours watching.
  2. Instagram’s Testing a New ‘Top 3’ Sticker for Stories: Instagram is getting more and more like Black Mirror by the update. The retro myspace-style update adds the option for people to show their top three accounts, from users to brands. Is this a controversial update after the increase in negative mental health we saw in last week's bulletin??

Have you seen this yet?:

  1. YouTube Will Now Enable Creators on iOS to Select a Thumbnail for their Shorts Clips Even more updates this week. This time it's Youtube’s turn. The video-sharing app has made it easier to share your content, in a bid to rival TikTok’s user-friendly sharing. You can now add thumbnails via iOS. The update hopes to streamline content creators' video-making process, with future thumbnail updates in the pipeline. Will we see a shift in creators moving back to youtube?
  2. Bushmills unleashes sheep on NY bar for St. Patrick’s Day campaign: A sheep walks into a bar… Waiting for the punchline? Busmill’s Irish Whiskey celebrated St Patrick’s day in sheepish style by letting multiple sheep lose in a New York bar for their ‘Forsake your namesake’ campaign. The pressure was on after their successful 2021 St Patrick’s day campaign, which saw sales increase by 16%. We don’t know if farm animals are the vibe you want for St Patrick's day, what do ewe think????
