Full Fat's Weekly Digital Bulletin - 07/10

Bringing you the freshest insights, app developments, and trends sweeping social media platforms across the country, so you can level up your strategy and ensure you’re always ahead of the curve.

This week, all the social platforms are in a race to expand their engagement and update their newest app features before the other. We see Spotify launching ‘Tickets.Spotify’, Facebook creating a ‘Subscribers Only’ feature and Instagram with a ‘Creator Portfolio’. Give it a read to see what might end up in your feed...

Food for thought:

  1. Spotify launches new site to sell tickets to live music events - To diversify its revenue stream and leverage their user base, Spotify’s aim is to be a one-stop shop for everything in the music world. “Tickets.spotify.com is our latest test,” - which could alert us all on that one artist we’ve always wanted to watch live - sounds good to me!
  2. How to formulate a more effective approach to TikTok marketing - For both organic and paid content, TikTok has published a guide to provide more insights into effective brand strategy which suggests prompts to nail down the platform approach. Deffo worth a read if you’re posting!
  3. Facebook tests ‘Subscribers Only’ posts to enhance creator offering - New post option ALERT! Some users now have access to an ‘Early Access for Subscribers’ toggle in their post settings which enables you to limit access to that post for a chosen period of time - who would you give access to?

Extra, extra! Read all about it:

  1. Instagram moves to the next stage of development with creator ‘Media Kit’ option - Adding a new intro flash screen for its Media Kit, called ‘Creator Portfolio’ allows creators to share their profile directly with potential partners in-app, but is this doing some jobs for us- helpful or not?
  2. Instagram starts testing a home feed without a shopping tab - Pivoting away from the previous approach, Instagram is testing how the platform treats e-commerce, and is continuing to simplify the experience with the navigation bar. We wonder what changes will eventually be the cut-through revelation.
  3. Meta adds new account switching and cross-app alert tools - Maximising engagement even more, it’s becoming easier to switch between your connected profiles on each and adding new alerts to entice you across both- handy or just annoying?

Have you seen this yet?:

  1. The TikTok skincare trend dermatologists actually like - For once, it’s NOT a product but a technique called skin cycling and one that’s just become trending after years of professionals advising. The routine is based on a four-night schedule of changing your products as so.. Read on for the recommendations.
  2. “The real self checkout”, campaign by Asda - In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Asda ask customers to have a “real self-checkout” of their chests as frequently as their regular shops to help save lives, whilst they partner with ‘Tickled Pink’.??
  3. How Whatsapp is exposing UK school children to bullying and harmful content - Teachers claim they’re powerless to deal with damaging elements of social media, so here is the protocol for parents to be more vigilant. Schools can’t control what’s happening in the late evenings, so the Guardian is using their voice to shout about it!
