Finding Your True Calling: Embracing Passion and Purpose in Life
Do you believe you were born to do something in particular? Do you have a mission in life?
I do. Every one of us comes to this world with a mission. It doesn’t matter how you deliver that mission; what’s important is that you follow the call.
Not long ago, I realized my mission was to help and empower others, especially girls and women. My passion is how I choose to fulfill that mission.
I spent my entire life bouncing from career to career, always enjoying them but never truly feeling like I was where I was supposed to be. I studied to become a chef, bartender, PR professional, communications expert, audiovisual producer, and designer, and finally, as an adult, focused on entrepreneurship and social change.
I had fun doing all those things. I had my cooking TV show, which I produced and hosted. I worked for almost 11 years as a bartender at top bars locally. I worked at advertising agencies and later in the audiovisual industry, from producer to client attendant. All of this leads me to my biggest realization ever.
I worked for almost four years at a local production house responsible for creating TV commercials for Polly Pocket, Max Steel, Batman, and more. It never occurred to me that the part of that job that truly fulfilled me was what I ended up doing today: making toys.
When I look back on those long days on set, I remember loving to see how the toys we were shooting came to life, and how the special effects applied later would make Max fly or burst something. I loved sitting behind the cameras, just watching the magic unfold. I was usually at the client’s tent, listening to their insights and soaking it all in without even noticing it.
I became close friends with most of my past clients, and we still are to this day. These were executives from Mattel and Spinmaster. I had no idea back then that my destiny was to work in the same industry as them. These are outstanding individuals with incredible creativity, and I learned a lot from them without even knowing it.
The talent behind them always kept me in awe.
I used to look at them and think: Wow, these people are the ones deciding how to make these toys look good enough for kids to ask for them later. That is powerful. Now I understand that.

I got into the industry almost by accident, and I say almost because, as I mentioned earlier, passion led me here, so it was meant to be this way.
I had my advertising agency back then when my daughter came to me with a drawing and asked me to transform it into something real. I immediately thought this must be a toy! But why? It was way easier to just create a digital cartoon or something.
That's when it hit me: my daughter's simple request was the spark that reignited my passion and pointed me toward my true calling. The joy and excitement on her face when she saw her drawing come to life as a toy made me realize the impact I could have. It wasn't just about creating toys; it was about inspiring and empowering the next generation, to dream big and pursue their passions.
I started researching the toy industry, learning everything I could about the design, production, and marketing of toys. I reached out to my old contacts, and their support and encouragement were invaluable. They connected me with key players in the industry, and before I knew it, I was immersed in the world of toy creation.
Today, I run a toy company that focuses on creating innovative, empowering toys, that show kids, especially girls, that they can become whatever they set their minds to. Our mission is to inspire creativity, confidence, and curiosity. We aim to break stereotypes and show girls that they can be anything they want to be.
The best part of this journey came last year when I had the chance to revisit the set. But this time, I returned as a toymaker, meeting with toy executives to discuss the toy I had created. I was the client. It was a perfect full-circle moment.
Looking back, every career path I took, every job I did, and every connection I made was preparing me for this mission. I believe that everyone has a unique journey and that every experience, no matter how unrelated it may seem at the time, plays a crucial role in shaping our destiny.
So, if you feel lost or unsure of your purpose, remember that every step you take is leading you toward your mission. Embrace your journey, follow your passion, and trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
Love,
M.

I had very similar thoughts when I realized that all the different and seemingly unrelated things I had been doing throughout my life were suddenly coming together when I found my true passion. I also have to credit my son for putting me on the right path. Looking forward to the next article!
