Japanese HVAC group Paloma Rheem offers £1.6bn for Fujitsu AC business

Japanese HVAC group Paloma Rheem Holdings is set to acquire Fujitsu’s air conditioning business Fujitsu General in a deal worth £1.6bn.

The Japanese-owned AC and water heating company has announced its intention to tender for all the common shares of Fujitsu General, with the intention to make Fujitsu General a wholly-owned subsidiary. Fujitsu General specialises in air conditioning solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and has been a player in the cooling and heat pump market across the UK and Europe.

Mitsubishi Electric voted best heat pump brand by homeowners in inaugural awards

Mitsubishi Electric has been voted Best Heat Pump Brand in the UK for 2025, in the first awards hosted by Renewable Heating Hub.

The competitiveness of the market is shown by the fact that the manufacturer of the Ecodan won with 10.36% of the total votes in the poll, which ran from October to December 2024. NIBE took second place with 8.88% of the votes, while Grant clinched third place with 8.51%.

Researchers to study impact of retrofit on health and wellbeing

A team of researchers, led by Northumbria University, will be investigating the impact of retrofitting houses to make them more energy efficient on the health and wellbeing of residents in Newcastle.

The?National Institute for Health and Care Research?has awarded the team £680,000 to run the three-year?In2Air?study?to better understand the impact of energy efficiency improvements on homes. The funding will allow them to expand their existing study to include a further 60 homes, to include blocks of flats and other building types.
