Fuel monitoring system for diesel generators combined with solar panels
The Customer
The Customer is a group of companies specialized in #solar energy infrastructure integrator. They produce solar modules, build up and operate solar #power stations and carry out researches in the field of solar energy power plants.
In this project, the Customer provides electricity generation service for remote area, kWh price is fixed there at certain level for a long term. The Customer's profit depends on how low the costs are, incl. efficient #dieselfuel usage.
The Machinery
The autonomous hybrid plant is mounted in a remote village. It generates and supplies electrical power to three inaccessible settlements.
Plant consists of solar modules?(1)?with total capacity of 120 kW, two diesel generators?(2)?of 200 kW each and energy storage (accumulators)?(3)?with capacity of 300 kW*h. Inverters?(4)?distribute load between solar cells, diesel generators and accumulators. They also provide batteries charging.
The Task
The Customer wants #Fuelmonitoring system, that accurately measures total fuel used and sends data in real time, helping to achieve better #fueleconomy and also allowing to plan fuel tank refilling just in time for smooth operation.
Diesel #generators have Volvo Pentа TAD734GE engines of 363 h.p. with Common rail.
#Fuelconsumption depends on electricity volume generation —from 16 L per hour at load of 25% to 54 L per hour at full load.

The Solution
DFM differential fuel flow meters and online telematics unit.
The flow meter is directly mounted in the fuel feed system and measures real fuel flow rate. The device also records engine run time in various operation modes – idling, optimal, etc.
Data is received by a telematics unit, which send data to web-based telematics service.
