Fuel Alberta for 50 years for $3 billion

Truthful philosophical quantitative cogitator. Especially deep time, planetary geology, and energy systems. Enemy of evil.
My quest to calculate toward relevance for you continues:
A Toyota Mirai gets over 100 km/kg H2.
500,000 kg H2 is 50,000,000 km per day in Mirai's.
On average, Canadians drive 41 km per day and Alberta has 3,642,000 registered vehicles, so perhaps 150 million km/day.
In a prior calculation, you saw that we aim to build a full-size demo, powered by H2, that produces 500 tonnes H2 per day available for sale for 50 years. Three of these could be built for about $1 billion supplying enough for 150 million km/d in Mirai's. Many Albertan's prefer big trucks; perhaps 4-seats wide, very powerful, fuel cell pick-up trucks. No emissions. So perhaps we build 7 units instead of 3, and round up to $3 billion for a big pipeline from northern Alberta southward.
Essentially, 3500 tonnes H2 per day could fuel Alberta's current vehicle needs for 50 years from 1.4 billion bbl oil in place. No emissions.
Why would people want to switch to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles? For one thing, H2 fuel at the pump can be less than 1/10th of today's diesel and gasoline fuel prices. For another, they can charge their house by plugging in their truck while making only pure water. For another, most people prefer to not produce toxic smog or engine noise.

5 年Good afternoon We are concluding here in Brazil a new technology for the production of H2 that does not need to use the electrolysis process for its production. conception. This innovative technology is capable of producing large amounts of H2 using as little energy as possible, which will make a major revolution in the power generation and mobility market.

5 年Thanks,?Grant!? Very interesting indeed!? Judging by some of the comments here though, I think there may be a misconception that you are talking about "traditional", energy-consuming?#hydrogen?production, rather than your #revolutionary?new process at Proton Technologies Canada Inc.,?that use oil wells as the reactor.? I would encourage anyone reading this article to check out what Proton is doing, as they're poised to be a significant #disruptor?in the #hydrogen?marketplace. #hydrogennow?#hydrogenfuelcells?

5 年Grant Strem thanks. The plug out idea is a very nicd addon and i am also thinking that this could be a decision maker especially in north america. I don't think that it would need 1/10 but i think we need ecological fair pricing of fossil fuels wich will End in much higher prices. I dont think that there is a way to offer hydrogen finally for lower prices than today, because at the End the goverments will some taxes on it again. To get the hydrogen green we have to get out the taxes from electric energy and to put it on the several uses. By this we will enable the Real Potential from hydrogen as energy vector for All sectors.
