FUD THAT! How Men On Purpose Move Beyond FEAR, UNCERTAINTY & DOUBT

The wisdom of the ages has shown that times of great change are also times of great opportunity. Part of the reason for this is because many if not most people are truly terrified of change. Even though we all know that change is a constant - when the amplifier is turned up loud and the rate of change accelerates a consistent result of those dynamics is an exponential increase in the “FUD” factor. 

Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt swirl around the culture, the industry, the company and in that climate of fear there are two distinct choices.  Succumb and become another member of the random herd running around adding to the noise with cries of “the sky is falling” - bleating like a sheep and quivering in your boots while simultaneously raising your blood pressure, aggravating your adrenals and accentuating the very circumstances that are causing the FUD in the first place.

The second choice? Well of course that would be to Lead - Like a Legend. Men on Purpose make that choice - stepping back, taking stock, tuning in to their own deep gut knowing, clarifying their exact position, and then stepping into the noise with clarity, confidence and unwavering commitment to their own role in the creation of that which is about to be out of the chaos of that which is falling apart.  Men on Purpose choose consciously, act creatively, and quite often capitalize handsomely on the immense energy that is stirred up when the change game is taken up a notch to the next level.  

We are in those times right now.  In the US we are grappling with the revelation of the Alt-Right, the broken promises and unhealed wounds of the history of racism, indigenous genocide and religious intolerance, xenophobia, school shootings, sexual harassment and assault revelations, questions about the very fabric of the American Dream and the system of governance which appears to be coming apart at the seams.  Around the world the challenges of a changing climate, ecosystems in duress, natural resource consumption without thought for preservation, plastic islands in the oceans and sea turtles with straws stuck up their noses because of human indifference to the delicate balance of the web of life. 

Men On Purpose are required now more than ever.  Men who are willing and able to do the deep work of saying YES to their own unique calling - the calling to be a creator, to engage consciously in surfing through the chaos, harnessing the energies and channeling them in service to a greater good for all.  Leaders are born every minute and it matters not how old or how experienced or even how skilled they are - what matters is their courage.  Men On Purpose have the courage - to stand up, speak out, be seen.  Men On Purpose have the clarity to dream big and act even bigger.  Men On Purpose have the creativity to SOLVE every problem - there are NO problems without solutions that have yet to be found.  Men On Purpose have the cojones too - to make their mark, lead like legends and live their legacy life.  

What is this deep work? The work of getting up, in, under, around and through all the FUD. Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt are the dark forces that will drain a man dry and therefore are the very forces that Men On Purpose must face and vanquish in order to leverage the freed up energy and potential that can be unleashed when these foes have finally been laid to rest once and for all.  One of the best ways to begin to face the FUD is to engage in a practice called “Stopping The World”.  Medicine Men, shaman, visionaries, and all great leaders know the value of taking a time out.  It is in these consciously chosen windows of timelessness that Men On Purpose can clarify, take stock of the situation, comprehend their own resources, marshal support from comrades, colleagues and collaborators and carefully craft their creative response to evolve and resolve the challenge before them.  

These are times where the purveyors of FUD are out on full display and far too many will fall under the spell, buying into the illusion of an old paradigm that is rapidly going extinct before our very eyes.  These are also the times where only the few will be willing to face FUD, to say “FUD That” and be willing use their voices, their power and their pure golden potential to call out to awaken the “sleepers” in the collective, to calm the frenzied flood of FUD and to point the way to the inevitable brighter day beyond the storm.     To those Magnificent Men On Purpose - I see you and I thank you.
