Welcome to another edition of 'Food Safety Works' Fortnightly round-up. Being in a month where the festivities peak in India , one cannot stay away from pondering on the part integral to all our festivals - Food and of course the less deliberated associated aspect of Food Safety. From an Indian context, F.S.S.A.I. does it's bit by undertaking a science-based food safety and quality standard and extending it to the entire distribution and manufacturing set-up. However, the country has it's own share of 'developing countries problems'. The challenges, of course, start with a lack of awareness, poor traceability, intentional food adulteration and of course the price-sensitive consumer market. In one of our many conversations with the FnB industry, we have been highlighting the need for incorporating Food Safety in the business's DNA and using Food Safety as a differentiator. On another note, we have been documenting Food Safety lapses on our website. You can access these incidents here. While we at F.S.W. dabble with food safety aspects on a day-to-day basis, the leadership believes in leading by example and creating awareness around the topic. During festivities, there is often an increase in the amount of food and waste, which can attract pests such as rats, cockroaches, and flies. These pests can not only be a nuisance, but they can also carry diseases. From our video archives, we bring to you our session on Pest Management for Food Premises.
