Mrs. Moore's Childcare Expands Its Care and Business Thanks to the MWBC Child Care Program

A 2018 study by the?Maryland Family Network?revealed a staggering impact on the state's economy: over $1.28 billion in annual losses due to childcare-related absenteeism and turnover.

One of the key drivers of these disruptions is the decline in family childcare (FCC) providers, leaving many unable to find adequate childcare during business hours. In response to these challenges, FSC First and the Maryland Women's Business Center (MWBC)?introduced the MWBC Child Care Business Program in Prince George’s County. The pilot incubator program provided nine small business childcare providers with skills and resources to expand their offerings—helping Maryland families regain their footing and pushing the businesses toward greater success.

Funded by FSC First, the course provided participants with training on foundational business tactics, marketing strategies, operational best practices, and financial management as well as an FSC First-led module on “Access to Capital.” Participants also received hands-on technical assistance from experienced consultants during the five-week program.

FSC First Business Success Story

Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and we are proud to support their growth and success. One of our recent success stories is Terrapin Care Center LLC , a thriving multidisciplinary medical clinic located in College Park, MD, specializing in noninvasive pain management. Since 2001, they’ve been providing patients with an alternative to drugs and surgery, focusing on long-term wellness.

What sets Terrapin Care Center apart is their holistic approach. Offering a range of services, including chiropractic biophysics, physical therapy, spinal decompression, acupuncture, and nutritional counseling, they address pain at its root. Their mission is to not only relieve pain but also empower patients to live healthier lives.

With their exceptional patient care and positive reviews, it’s no surprise that Terrapin Care Center is expanding. Thanks to our?Small Business Capital and Growth Stimulus Fund?loan, they’re investing in marketing, hiring additional staff, and acquiring new equipment and technology to better serve their community.
