THE FRUSTRATION OF SATAN 2
CHAPTER TWO
THE BIRTH OF THE ANOINTED ONE
For the second time, after the catastrophic humiliation in Egypt, Lucifer had a panic attack. In Egypt he had ten principalities running the nation - the fly god, the goddess of the Nile, the god of darkness, the god of fertility, the locust god, the god of death, the toads god, the god of the weather, etc. One by one, God destroyed the myths he had painstakingly built up for all of them. He exposed their nakedness and powerlessness before the Egyptians. In fact Lu had asked them to withdraw from Egypt the moment God used Moses to create flies out of the dust - he had recognized the finger of God and knew better than to hang around.
They stood at a safe distance and watched the Egyptian devastation. They watched helplessly as the Egyptians appealed to them for help, but they dared not enter the arena. The poor Egyptians did not understand that Lu was as vulnerable as they were before God. After the Israelites left Egypt, Lu heaved a sigh of relief. He was happy see them go. The situation was not irredeemable, he would pick up the pieces and restore the "order."
He had watched in alarm and helplessness as the Egyptians pursued the Israelites, who appeared to be trapped in the wilderness. He still could not enter Egypt because God’s presence was still there with His awesome fire. If he could have entered, he would have warned his servant Pharaoh to stay back and not suffer more calamities. Pharaoh had been a pretty good servant to Lu and Lu loved him as much as he could love any human - which was not much. Well, he was not too surprised when the Egyptian army drowned in the Red Sea - but he was not prepared for their response.
The Egyptians were so angry with Lu that they went after his priests and destroyed Lu’s temples. They killed some priests and some escaped to Ethiopia and other countries. They were damned mad that Lu could not help them nor did he even respond to their pleas. "What kind of nonsense god was that?" they hissed. It took Lu a while to re-establish his complete hold on Egypt, and even that happened with the next generation. He sighed and slumped in his seat and rubbed his horns.
The second time he had a panic attack was when he let down 850 of his faithful servants. Elijah had thrown a challenge at Mount Caleb. He sent Baal to dissuade his priests from accepting the challenge - but they had too much faith in Lu to listen to Baal. Lu had never let them down until then. But on that day, Jehovah came down and Lu ran and hid. The 850 priests begged him, cut themselves and were prepared to do anything for their lives - a scenario Lu loves - but Lu could not do anything. Lu was helpless. When Jehovah steps in, everyone steps out. When Elijah mocked the priests whether their god traveled, he was right. Lu had to travel - with all his demons. As a matter of fact, it was a day of mourning throughout Lu’s kingdom. It had taken him time to raise such a great number of devoted humans - an army. Baal was the worst affected. Dagon even suggested that they could try to throw a match to light the sacrifice but that was a foolish suggestion. The entire place was on fire and the light was blinding. They could not see what was going on there. They were only hearing voices - the taunts of Elijah and the cries of their servants.
Well, all these would look like child play with the unfolding events. He could sense that his kingdom, all his labours, all the worship were under threat - severe threat. Attack was imminent and all demons should be on guard. But more frustrating was that Lu did not know what to do - just like in Egypt. Just like in Mount Caleb! He shook himself out of the reverie and noted that the smartest thing he ever did was deceiving Eve and introducing death to the world. Since then he had capitalized on human beings' fear of death (like he told God in Job 2:4 MSG) to control the kingdoms of the world. That was his weapon and armory.
So just how was the Anointed One, who was about to be born, going to change that. He did not know, worst still, he could not even guess. With God you can never guess - you just wait for His move. He sighed. Heaven had been preparing for the coming of the Anointed One also called “Shiloh,” “Emmanuel,” “Messiah,” “The Son of God,” etc from when God called Abraham and told him in Genesis 12: 3 that through him all the families of the world would be blessed. Lu was ready, or was he?
He knew the Anointed One. The word of God. But the Anointed One had always been in Heaven and may not understand life on earth and how human beings operate, Lu figured. Lu had been on earth long enough and he believed he understood human beings more. Lu figured he would be playing home, the Anointed One would be playing away. Sure through the Anointed One the world was created but it was one thing to build a house and another thing to live there and know the tenants. Lu would have home advantage, he thought to himself, as he fancied his chances. But then he remembered that he had home advantage in Egypt but he could not make anything out of it. The more he thought of it the less he liked it. Lu figured that the Anointed One may not know from his birth that he was the son of God. So could he derail him before he boots up completely to the knowledge? Worth a trial, Lu said to nobody in particular, but all options should be open.
“Boss! We have got appointments in the Inca Empire and with the Red Indians!” Lu’s personal assistant and Arch Satan informed him. He nodded. He knew he had worship festivals coming up in Russia, Japan, Africa, America etc. What humans did not know was that he never set out to be a bad guy, he just wanted to be worshiped. Put nicely, he is a worship-freak. And because he is a “worshipmaniac” he is a hard task master and can be a bully at times. He would just move over to South America for the Inca festival and receive their worship. He would monitor events from there. “Lets go!” he said to his attendants and they zoomed off.
The Inca festival was grand. They even had human sacrifices - which was the ultimate aphrodisiac for Lu. They danced. They sang to him. They worshiped him. They prayed to him. He was so inebriated with all the worship that he forgot the problem at hand. His phone interrupted him. He picked it up reluctantly, “Boss, this is Intergalactic Intelligence, operating from Bethlehem, Judah. We had every hotel and inn blocked. She had no foothold anywhere. But she checked into a manger and gave birth. Can you imagine that? The Anointed One born in a manger! We thought we had frustrated them into going somewhere else. But Boss, after that birth there was a tumult in heaven. All the planets, the stars, the moon, the angels, all of creation burst out in songs. Boss we are in deep trouble. From one end of the earth to the other, the angels are wild in celebration.”
“I am coming over. I watched the heavenly carnival from here. I would hand over this celebration to Serpentine, the territorial commander of Inca and show up in Israel. I asked Baal to handle stuff there until my arrival. He had been keeping me up-to-date. We would keep fighting until the last minute. No retreat. No surrender. Just as we did last time until He threw us out.”
He arrived just in time to hear that some wise men from the east had an encounter with the angels and were heading to see the baby. The way they told him, the angels revealed themselves to the wise man and told them that the king of the Jews had been born and they would be peace towards humans. "Peace for mankind!" he screamed, "After all we had done to drive a wedge between God and them? No way!!!"
Lu had thought that after Eve and Adam failed, he had advantage. God forgave them. Then Lu poisoned the world so much that God was forced to destroy all humans except Noah and his family. After that he thought he had wired permanent enmity between God and man into the earth equation. Now the angels were talking peace. He surveyed the room and shook his head.
“Okay boss what do we do?” The demon head of insurgency said. “We are running out of time.”
"Let us plot the route of the wise men to go to Herod. Then we would lay it in Herod’s heart to kill the baby.” Lucifer replied. "You know our mission is to steal, to kill and to destroy."
“Oh boss! That is damned smart. And you know Herod is like a bulldog. Put something in his heart and he would not rest until he does it. We bow to your wise counsel.”
“So, where is the baby?”
“We lost contact with him?”
“How?”
“Boss, we just followed him and suddenly all the demons became blind and could not see him anymore. We have never seen anything like that. All efforts to reestablish contact have been abortive. We know He is somewhere but Boss we do not have a clue were.”
“Where did you lose him?”
“In Rama, a suburb of Bethlehem. The whole of Rama is on fire - spiritual fire. The pillar of fire rises up to heaven. None of us could go near it or see what is happening there.”
“All is not lost, let us follow the wise men and we will get a line on Him,” Lu said calmly through clenched teeth.
They led the wise men to the court of Herod. There the wise men told their story innocently, “Where is he that has been born king of the Jews for we saw His star in the east?”
Baal turned to Lu and smiled, “Everything is going according to plan. We might pull this off…”
Lu responded without thinking. “Pull what off? This is Jehovah. You never win against Him. You know He loves this silly humans, and our duty is to try and mess the darned humans up so much that He could not stand them. Our problem right now is to load anti-God software on the minds of these magi but they seem to have an impregnable hard disc defense system.” He paused for a while and said “Oh well lets go for Herod, his operating system was designed by Diana, the goddess of Ephesus. Lu loaded the program in Herod’s heart and pressed the “Jealousy” and “Combat” buttons. Then he set them to extreme mode. Then he turned to Baal, "Fill him up with demons of jelousy!"
As Herod listened to the wise men, he could barely contend with his rage. King of the Jews? Star in the east? Someone to come and interrupt his succession plans? He was so livid he wanted to kill the wise men but a voice (Lu) whispered to him, “These men are not the problem, find the child and kill him.” Nice idea!, he thought to himself. He turned and gave the wise men a broad smile and nodded his head. “Oh how gladsome! I am so happy men. I am going to organize a national celebration and honor the child. Just proceed to where he is and come back and tell me. I would then go with my executive and pay him homage. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Bless are you as you go ahead to prepare the way for me to come in your footsteps. Before you go let me treat you to a feast.”
The leader of the wise men responded, “Most excellent Herod, It would have been our joy to stay for the feast, particularly as one of us, Artaban, is still on the way. He stopped by to help a man in trouble. He would have met us here. But alas we are following a star and we do not want to stay back and miss the star. We do not want Heaven to think we place fleshly desires above spiritual matters. Let us go and see the child. After that we promise you that we will come back to the feast. Like the ancients said, ‘Business before pleasure. Let us find grace in your eyes to go on our mission and come back.”
So they departed to search out the child. The star had disappeared and every night they searched the firmaments for the star. The third night after they left Herod, the star appeared again. “Watch out!” they all shouted at once, and danced for joy. The journey began again in earnest. As they went one of them tried to sing the song of the angels. The others laughed at his voice and said, “Hope the angels did not hear you spoil their song?” The leader rebuked them with mirth, “God and angels hear the rhythm of the heart and spirit, not the melody of the song nor the sweetness of the voice.”
It was a jolly good company of good men and they enjoyed every bit of their journey to see the Gift of Heaven. They traveled in the night and rested in the day when the star could not be seen.
