Frustrated about the future? In-Frustration Schema.
Are you sometimes frustrated about the future too?
Being a senior.. with interests in a manifold of fields and that many dreams.. I find myself frustrated at times.
I don't really want to hold back of anything.. So eventually when I try to sum it up, it comes down to something like this..
I want everything.
Well, of course my everything may be different than your everything and I use this word as in fulfilling every bits of my potential: may it be a skill, passion project, work... But I found a way to make it less frustrating. How?
Well, I was mapping out some networks during my internship. Even though I was mapping out the neuropsyhiatric symptoms of dementia of NPI, I wondered if I could also try to visualize my own pathway and try to maybe see it all in one page.
Turns out, it was possible.
And when I saw it all in front of me, I could imagine all the fascinating journeys that would lead me to.. I got so excited..
However, being a senior psychology student, I feel I'm obliged to share it with you. You don't necessarily need to be a frustrated student to do this too!
Perhaps a must-have ingredient is Frustration, but if you have curiosity that's perfect. I've wrote about dozens of techniques similar to this during my time in Project Cubicle, and knowing it was read by thousands, I feel proud of every letter I've put together on paper.
For confidentiality purposes, I will leave a template for you without my information. You can adjust it based on your needs.
Naming it the In-frustration Schema; I feel in frustration but "in'' is also a negative prefix that indicates the opposite meaning. So I am drawing my way out of frustration by decomposing the negative meaning.
A matter of perception (:
I used the following representations for my Infrustration Schema which I've made on draw.io :
But while doing this, please remember in the power of Time.
And I hope wherever you are in the world, you are in the Right Place at the Right Time, regardless of how relative the word ''right'' is.. I hope they will be the right one(s) for you.
And I also hope that reading this passage today relieved you of even a tiny part of the distress or overwhelmedness you are feeling, hope I somehow played a part in your journey of being in the right time. That is invaluable to me, and that is, why we are having this conversation at this very moment. A very invaluable moment that you've shared with me, thank you (:
Oh and lastly, I'd like to leave a song for all the (in)frustrated people in the universe; a song that I always keep close to my heart.
Next time you see the word ''frustration'', remember the perceptual positive prefix ''in-'' we added together.
Dear reader, today, you and I took the first step in draining a negative meaning out of a word that creates a perceptual barricade for you.
Do you have even more negative words that has the same or a worse perceptual effect?
Why not re-compose them more constructively, more creatively together?
Until next time.
With Love,
Ceyda.
