Fruition IT's Big Day Out - The write up

Last Friday the team at Fruition IT hit the hills of sunny Halifax for a fun filled afternoon of team building activities.  

We had a brilliant afternoon at the Another World adventure centre, kicking the afternoon off with some fun warm up activities involving a rope and 13 Recruitment Consultants – not pretty!

Split into our 2 teams – Team 1 ‘Formula Won’ and Team 2 ‘Job Swerve’ we then braved the low ropes activity. Set in the woodlands we had to manoeuvre our teams over a series of low rope hurdles, Team 1 took glory by having a clear plan and working as a team, which was after all the whole purpose of the day!  We then moved on to the next activity, a web of ropes that we had to get the whole team through without incurring any penalties by touching the ropes (think of the film entrapment and you’ll get the picture) again Team 1 whooped Team 2 making the scores 2-0!

The guys at Another World were ace and rounded up 2 very competitive teams on to the final challenge of the afternoon – building and then racing go-karts! We had to race (aka use some mean underhand tactics) to a pile of wood, wheels, ropes etc and pick out the parts we wanted to use to build our go-karts. The golden rule was whatever your team picked had to be used on the go-kart. It was then on to the build phase, which basically involved lots of men standing round discussing their experience of cars, steering, axis etc!

 The end result was two contraptions that kind of resembled go-karts. Team 1 named the kart – Don Kiddique (better not to ask) and Team 2 – Pole Position

It was now time to race……….

Team 1 suddenly realised the beauty that was Don Kiddique didn’t in fact steer and Team 2 realised Pole Position didn’t have any brakes, and was rather unstable in the corners. The result being the team at Fruition IT hurtling down a rather steep hill with no stopping or steering (see photo). Team 2 took glory of the race with their aero dynamic demon Pole Position.

A brilliant afternoon topped off by a yummy BBQ provided by the guys at Another World. See you in the winter for some skiing fun!
