The Front Steps Project
My 1880 Fixer Upper

The Front Steps Project

Here's an easy way you can raise money for charity and get a professional family photo -- all without leaving your property.

Have you heard about the Front Steps Project? Photographer Cara Soulia in Needham, Mass. and her friend Kristen Collins came up with the ideal to have people pose in front of their homes for quick photo shoots. In return, families are asked to make a charitable donation, if they can. According to ABC News, #TheFrontStepsProject has raised almost $20,000 for the Needham Community Council.

Now this amazing idea is spreading nationwide. There are at least two photographers in my small Connecticut town who are running with it. I've reached out to them and will be making donations to The Madison Foundation's Neighbor 2 Neighbor Fund as well as the Cheshire Food Pantry.

Here's the front door of my 1880 fixer upper. Once my partner and I have our photos taken, I'll post them here. If you decide to do this too, I'd love to see your photos!

I'm sharing this as part of Legg Mason's #InspireACTION campaign to spotlight stories that show how even initiatives on a small scale can make a large difference. #LAML

What have you done today to make the world a better place?
