#EnrichingStories
In last few weeks, my conviction in Work-Life Matrix grew far stronger. I started to take other training assignments and workshops. I am also working on a consultancy project. Observing the way people manage their work and life, I learn from other work areas. This has developed my thought-process yet stronger. Also, that makes me realise the important aspects I cover in the workshop. I realise the need people around me have for the workshop.
A couple of testaments to that indeed. One coming from a team where I conducted the workshop in March 2019. They informed about following the takeaways from the workshop till date. The other is below here for your reference.
Conducted the workshop for Team Circle Wealth Advisors on April 16, 2019. One of the participants was Jinay Savla. Jinay is a Chartered Accountant by qualification. He is a partner at Circle Wealth Advisors Pvt Ltd.
From discussing work at dinner table to becoming a family man. Here is Jinay's story in his own words.
Feedback for Work-Life Matrix – Jinay Savla, Circle Wealth Advisors
I have known Milind for quite some time now. He is extremely detail and process oriented person. Someone who is exactly opposite of me. I am a person who is intuitive and often skip a lot of steps in my processes and get the job done. Even during the days of my academics, I never had a plan to study. I used to study what I felt that day and would study till the time I got tired. Well, it worked beautifully for me.
But as I started to rise through my career, my intuitive attribute worked well to an extent. Most of the times, I was under the leadership of people who would understood this trait & worked with me. And hence, I never felt any need to organise my time or calendar and to an extent, my life.
But now, when I walk shoulder to shoulder with industry leaders, this attribute had started to backfire. My colleagues around me were extremely organized with their calendars and meetings. It would send shivers in my spine seeing how much work they could accomplish with so much ease. And for me, to do even 50% of that seemed like a herculean task.
Fortunately, our firm invited Milind for a session on being more organized at work and personal life. Interestingly, Milind calls it as Work-Life Matrix. He promised me that by end of one month, I would stop discussing work at my dinner table. In my head, I thought it’s impossible since I am so unorganized. It will take an effort of ascending Mount Everest to get me organized.
A few months have passed by and my life has changed drastically since then. So I guess, I am a little qualified to write this testimonial.
My Life Post implementing Work-Life Matrix
I have become absolutely organised now. I can’t believe I’m writing this. But yes, I feel that I am in control of my week and month rather than being on the other end. Productivity at work has gone up significantly. This has enabled me to look for various opportunities and pursue them wholeheartedly. I am now more organized at my meetings that leave a fulfilling experience to clients and their families.
Also, my personal life is rocking. I am able to give a lot more time to family, take them out for holidays, long drives and lovely food. That’s what true happiness really is.
I get enough time for my early morning meditation and reading. And yet I am able to reach office by 9 am which is 25 kms away from my home. And I don’t feel tired at all. Infact, even at 10 pm, I have the same energy to work that I have at 9 am in the morning.
Our objective is to provide a peaceful investment experience to our clients. I’m living one now which creates a lot of impact when I am talking to a new prospect.
What Worked!
Every Monday, I sit down for 25 mins and plan my week ahead. It’s the most important exercise at the start of the week. Then every single day, I look at it and cross what’s completed and schedule what’s left. My calendar is now in sync with my weekly plans. Follow ups are now timely.
On Milind
Milind is the right combination of getting the work done & understanding the fact that it will take longer than expected. He has been exceptionally patient and given his key insights into how he manages his time. He has the right qualities to train a lot more companies and I am sure, he will do a fabulous job at it. I wish him all the best for his journey.
I'd like to thank Jinay for sharing his journey. This is the best and most beautiful feedback I've received for my work till date. I am sure there are many more to follow.
