Hey, y'all! Did you know that March is Women's History Month? That's right, a whole month dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. As a black 25-year-old woman, this month is particularly special to me. It's a chance to recognize the amazing women who have paved the way for us, and to lift up the voices of those who have been overlooked or forgotten.
But where did Women's History Month come from? Well, let me give you a little history lesson. Back in 1981, Congress passed a resolution declaring the week of March 7th as "Women's History Week." The idea was to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women throughout history, but one week just wasn't enough. So, in 1987, Congress declared March as Women's History Month, and we've been celebrating ever since.

Now, I know what you might be thinking. "Do we really need a whole month for women's history? Shouldn't we be celebrating women all year round?" And you know what? You're absolutely right. We should be celebrating and uplifting women every day. But the reality is, women's contributions to history have often been overlooked or minimized. Women's History Month is a chance to shine a spotlight on those contributions and to remind ourselves and others of the incredible things that women have achieved.
So, this Women's History Month, let's take a moment to celebrate the women who have made a difference in our lives and in the world around us. Let's lift up the voices of those who have been silenced or ignored. And let's remember that women's history is not just a month-long celebration, but a legacy that we carry with us every day.
