(From) Where are you?
Julian Dumitrascu
My teams make available people, services, and means that help manage relationships, resources, and data.
1: I’ve seen such questions and statements; in many cases they refer to a country or a region.
I’ve known such a phrase maybe since the 1980s.
We can express related feelings.
It used to mean something like: “I was born and raised there (e.g. in a certain county).” Or even: “I’ve spent almost all my days there.”
2: A person’s face can make one associate them with a certain people or region, and it can help one estimate their age.
At least a person’s last name can be associated with certain peoples or languages.
A person’s language and accent can indicate e.g. with whom or even where they spent time while learning this language.
Such things encourage me to communicate with someone about the culture of a certain people. This can help us build rapport and can enrich the foreigner.
3.1 “From where are you?” seems like a request for information about one’s past.
Every person can estimate the benefits and costs of sharing information e.g. about themselves before sharing it.
They’re free to talk about themselves whenever.
One can manage a database about oneself and choose how to use what information together with whom.
This database can show e.g. where one has spent most of one’s time.
3.2 Police officers are some of the people who recommend choosing carefully who knows where one is.
I choose when I discuss where I am or where I've been.
3.3 People have been travelling and moving more and more.
Some people may prefer to present themselves otherwise than being from a certain place.
I think it matters where we are going to spend our time. We decide on this depending on how we want to interact with one another.
To schedule an online talk with someone, I don’t know to need where they’ll be at the time of our talk.
To schedule a meeting with someone, I don’t need to know where they are.
Sol Event Management helps people do things together (at the same time or even at the same place).
To send e.g. a parcel to someone, Sol Transportation needs an exact place. It’s useful for someone to receive the goods; when you do, we agree on when you’ll be there.
