From Web2 to Web3 to the Metaverse.

2022 is here and we have a huge challenge at hand. As we now need to upgrade our Web2 environments we also need to prepare our businesses for seamless integration or transformation to a decentralised Web3 environment. I realise this is quite a statement as most companies are still in full development to adapt to the new digital economy.

As leaders in this digital space it is our responsibility to always look one or in this case 2 steps ahead for our companies. The dynamics around Web3 is one huge topic that I have been spending a lot of time on in the past Year and I intend to share more knowledge and perspective around this with you in 2022. Now to crank it up a notch I'm urging you to also take the next evolution into account which is The Metaverse.

The Web3 principles and Metaverse evolution is manifesting faster than any other we've experienced this far so we need to be on the offence and educate ourselves and our organisations. Over the course of this Year I will take you on a discovery journey to uncover the strategical and practical topics to study and prepare your organisation for the next revolution.

Let's zoom in on your tech stack.

"Like the internet today, the Metaverse will rely on hardware and infrastructure, tools and standards, and regulatory frameworks — most of which haven’t been fully developed yet.

But unlike today’s internet, there won’t just be one Metaverse. There will be many Metaverses, and they’ll be interconnected. That’s why it will be important for any Metaverse to be trustless — meaning people can interact directly without going through an intermediary — and permissionless — meaning anyone can participate without authorization from a governing body.

To achieve this, the Metaverse will rely on blockchain to transfer identity and ownership across virtual worlds, attestation to verify them, and payment rails that allow people buy, sell, and earn income within a decentralized economy."

This makes the transition on both organisational and technical level hyper complex. Before we deep dive into the organisational part, which is the transition into a DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation) I will start with a Hypothetical tech stack for the future Metaverse. For this week we're going to study the model below and compare it to your own tech stack. Look specifically at where to connect on a Foundational level. I'd be curious to see what you have in place, what you don't have, what is relevant to build now and what you assume is irrelevant.
