siliXcon: From a Garage Dream to Global Ambition
What does it take to transform a humble garage experiment into a company revolutionizing motor control across industries? For siliXcon, the journey has been a testament to bold ideas, relentless innovation, and the power of a great team. This is the story of how a small Czech company became a global player in electric mobility, proving that big dreams can start anywhere—even in Biskupice.
The Beginning of Innovation
Innovation often emerges from the simplest of challenges. For Martin Plá?ek, it began in 2017 with an ambitious project to create an electric tracked vehicle. What he didn’t realize was that his future partner, Jaromír Dvo?ák, had already been revolutionizing motor control for years.
Back in 2011, when electric mobility was just gaining momentum, Jaromír was tackling a fundamental challenge in his university lab.
“Everyone was pushing the boundaries with new batteries and motors,” Jaromír recalls, “but the controllers managing these motors were stuck in the past.”
His solution was bold: implementing 32-bit ARM microcontrollers when 8-bit systems were the industry standard. The approach was simple yet revolutionary: understand the physics first, then build the technology around it. Soon, innovative companies from Flydeo to Kuberg were taking notice.
When Jaromír and Martin’s paths crossed in 2017, it was perfect timing. The electric vehicle project needed exactly what Jaromír had spent years developing: precise, reliable motor control. What started as a solution to an immediate challenge quickly evolved into something bigger—they weren’t just solving one problem, they were sitting on technology that could transform entire industries.
What’s in a Name?
“We wanted a name that would stand out—something innovative and memorable,” Martin explains. The team’s creativity led them to combine “silicon” (the cornerstone of modern electronics) with “controller” and an “X,” the universal symbol of creativity and the unknown. The result? siliXcon. It wasn’t just clever wordplay but a reflection of their core mission: to explore uncharted territories in motor control innovation.
The Workshop Days: siliXcon 1.0
In the early days, siliXcon was little more than a dream taking shape in a modest garage in Biskupice. “Each of us had to do everything,” Jaromír recalls. “From soldering components to designing casings, we were wearing every hat imaginable.” Customers back then were more like testers, as early prototypes were provided for free to gather feedback.
For two years, the small team toiled on their prototypes. Progress was slow but steady, marked by trial, error, and relentless iteration. “We knew that if we could overcome these initial hurdles, we were on the verge of something transformative,” Martin remembers. Those long hours and countless experiments were fueled by a shared vision: to create technology that wasn’t just functional but revolutionary.

Scaling Up: siliXcon 2.0
By 2020, siliXcon had grown beyond the garage. The team expanded, production increased, and new processes were introduced to improve efficiency. “We went from a few dozen units to hundreds,” Martin explains. The partnership with Cake, a Swedish manufacturer of cutting-edge electric motorcycles, marked a turning point.
Cake’s recognition of siliXcon’s potential pushed the team to scale production and refine their designs to meet the demands of serial manufacturing. “It was a tremendous validation of our work,” Martin reflects, “but it also brought new challenges.” This era was defined by growth and learning—a time when the company’s focus shifted to producing at scale without compromising quality.
Maturing into siliXcon 3.0
Since 2022, siliXcon has entered its most transformative phase. Quality, certifications, and efficiency now define the company’s operations. With a team of 17 skilled professionals, siliXcon produces thousands of units annually, meeting the highest industry standards.
“We’ve built a culture of collaboration and innovation,” Martin says. “Every step we take is about doing things better, smarter, and more sustainably.” Larger production volumes, rigorous quality control, and certified processes ensure that siliXcon’s controllers are reliable, efficient, and built to last.
