From Vision to Impact: Cassavity’s Remarkable Journey in 2024

Dear Cassavity Community,

As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on an extraordinary year filled with milestones, challenges, and triumphs. It has been a year of growth and resilience for Cassavity as we continue to pursue our mission of fostering sustainable agriculture, empowering youth, and driving meaningful transformation in our communities. This journey has been made possible through the dedication of our team, the trust of our partners, and the unwavering support of our community.

The year began with an incredible honor when our co-founder was named the Youth Entrepreneur 2024 Winner by StartupAfrica. This award was a recognition not just of individual effort but of the collective impact we are creating through our work at Cassavity. Shortly after, in March, we were named one of the Week One BRACE Top Scholars by African Food Changemakers. This recognition celebrated our commitment to climate-resilient agricultural practices and innovation in agribusiness. Being acknowledged alongside other inspiring agripreneurs reaffirmed the importance of our work in transforming the agricultural landscape.

In October, we had the privilege of being one of 22 participants selected from over 400 applicants for the UNDP and Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone Youth-Led Green Solutions Innovation Challenge Bootcamp. Over five days, we refined our ideas, gaining invaluable insights to make them more impactful across social, economic, and environmental dimensions. This experience strengthened our resolve to build a greener and more resilient Sierra Leone.

November brought another highlight when we were awarded the Community Engagement Fund by the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center West Africa. This funding aligns with this year’s theme, “Impact-creation, Sustainability, and Legacy,” and provides us with the resources to drive projects that create lasting change in our communities. It was a moment of pride and a call to action to deepen our commitment to sustainable development.

As the year drew to a close, we had the honor of participating in the YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2024 in Kigali. Represented by our Co-founder & Chief Strategist, Onapa Ambrose, we joined changemakers from across the continent to discuss innovative strategies for youth empowerment. The summit offered a platform to showcase our cassava flour innovation, engage with policymakers and investors, and expand our network to further our mission. This experience was a powerful reminder of the potential for collective action in shaping a sustainable future for Africa.

At Cassavity, our mission remains clear: to create sustainable agricultural solutions, empower communities, and inspire meaningful change. This year’s achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone who has been part of this journey.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are filled with hope and determination. Our plans include scaling our cassava processing operations, developing innovative skilling programs for youth, and strengthening partnerships to drive a resilient and sustainable Africa. We are inspired by the progress we have made and energized by the opportunities that lie ahead.
