From Vision Board to Reality

From Vision Board to Reality

I wanted to share with you something that I hope will impact you in a positive way, something that will hopefully inspire you to keep moving forward to your goals, even when it seems that success is improbable.

I didn't start my life until my late 20's, meaning that I just started to sober up, quit smoking, stop running around the planet in a vain attempt to avoid running into myself, no matter where I traveled, there I was.

Despite having a very challenging start to life, I dug in and decided that maybe I could do more. So since then, I dug in my heels and started the long journey of creating a life out of the rubble of my past, a process called by the Japanese "Kintsugi".

Kintsugi is the process where you take a broken piece of pottery and you repair it with gold, making it more valuable than before, which is what so many of us are doing with our lives. We see that the broken shards of our lives are worth salvaging, so we with strong resolve, add gold in the form of "self-care, personal development, contribution, forgiveness' to create something much more valuable than we had imagined.

My choice to add "value" to my life, though often I did not believe my own sense of worth, has continued for over two decades. Last year I decided to take one more bold step forward and put in an application to do a Tedx on S.A.M., as in SAM for training and SAM for our personal and spiritual development. I received a few "no thank you's" but yesterday after arriving home from an amazing trip to Aus, I received an email asking if I could be in Chicago on April 10th to do a Tedx at the University. What a wonderful gift to come home to!!

I remember a message from an Indian Sage that was highlighted by a powerful intellect here in Canada, Jordan Peterson, and it is simply to "stop looking for happiness, rather start looking for purpose in your life, and just maybe you will find joy", and my joy is in knowing that I work hard at leaving the world a little better than I found it.

I had created this image on me on stage, and now I will get to do it in real life in 30 days!!
