Helping Coaches and Consultants find paying clients, build thriving businesses, earn from coaching and feel proud they did it! | Corporate parental leave Coach | Business Mentor
Allow me to introduce myself. Twice...
I’m Rebecca Amin. I’m a Coach. I have been coaching since 2018. I trained with the Career Counselling service and have done lots of CPD. Im accredited with the Association for Coaching. My group coaching programme runs for 6 months with weekly sessions and self-led learning. I use various coaching and mentoring techniques and models with my clients so they remove limiting beliefs, feel empowered and confident to be the coaching business owners they really want to be...
?Actually, let me try that again...
?Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca Amin. I am the Coaches Coach! I help aspiring Coaches and Consultants shift from having a patchy, inconsistent side-hustle, to having a steady flow of paying clients - a business they truly love AND that works for them. A business they earn a living from and can feel proud of, all via my Evolve Together group programme.
Which into do you prefer? The second one, right? And that's likely because, if you are reading this and you are a Coach or Consultant who is either struggling to make their business a success, or has been in that place, the words I shared resonate. You see yourself in them.
The first intro - that probably meant pretty much nothing to everyone!
So why am I sharing this with you?
There is a sad statistic that more than 80% of coaching businesses fail in their first 2 years. So why is that? Is it due to lack of clients? A saturated market? The reality is a huge proportion of that 80% will have just given up. Stopped trying to make it work. Believed it never will, so called it quits.
But why is it some Coaches or Consultants seem to easily earn a living from their passion? Whilst others struggle? Maybe you have sat wondering “how are they doing it?! How are they filling their programmes or selling their thing so easily?! What are they doing that I’m not?”
These thoughts can spiral. You can land up feeling like it must be a you problem. you just must not be good enough. You’re not capable. Success won’t happen for YOU.
The reality is that many of those of the 80+% are brilliant Coaches. In fact, it’s really sad the world will not benefit from their work. The 18% that make it are not necessarily better coaches. Also, they don’t just have more luck or better contacts either. What they most likely DO have is a strategy that allows potential clients that maybe don’t even know they need them, to see and hear them.
"But how?!" I hear you cry!
It's actually not that hard. It takes time, but it isn't difficult - and you too can master this.
If you are a Coach or Consultant, your potential, ideal clients are facing challenges of some kind. They're feeling stuck, itching for a change. They really wish for something different to what is happening now. After all, that's what Coaches and Consultants help with - we help people with stuff they can't seem to figure out themselves - but that they know they really want to change!
But, right now they most likely haven't connected the dots. They don't realise that YOU, or your Coaching or Consulting is the solution they need! The thing that can get them from where thy are now to where they desperately want to be!
They’re not thinking “Hey, I need a coach!” - let alone actively seeking one out on LinkedIn or elsewhere to help them.
What they do know is they want to shake things up. They want to get unstuck - to reach an outcome they’ve been dreaming of but can't seem to reach themselves. They're thinking about wanting something to change, something new or different.
So what? How do I tap into that?
Speaking your ideal client's language is vital. Talking about the problems, the challenges your clients are facing and that you can help them overcome these challenges, that you can help them reach the outcome they wish for, is vital.
If I hated my job, hearing “I’ll help you land a job that you’re excited to wake up to every day” or “I’ll help you build a business that gives you time for family and still pays the bills." Would make me stop and listen.
If I was worried about retirement, hearing “I’ll remove those retirement money worries so you can live life to the full” would make me listen.
If I heard "I'm a Career Coach offering a six-session programme that will build your confidence and empower you to truly understand yourself and what that means for your career", that probably wouldn't land.
It wouldn't land because that isn't the outcome I am hoping for when I am desperately unhappy in my career.
Rather than selling the process, you must help your audience visualise what they get at the end. The true outcome for them of working with you. By doing this, you can grab the attention of those people that never knew they needed you.?
When Coaches – or other types of businesses start talking about things like helping people feel aligned, addressing limiting beliefs, or embarking on a journey of self-discovery, it falls flat. These phrases don’t resonate with the majority of potential clients.
But I do all those things via my coaching, so why not talk about them?
Don’t get me wrong – all these things are true! What we do as Coaches and how we do it, is fantastic. But these phrases won't land with that person that hasn’t connected the dots to understand YOU are the person that can help them reach that outcome or change they want or have dreamt of. So they aren't going to stop and read your content. They don't know it's for them!
So what do I need to do?
In all you do, always think "What are my potential clients pain points, desires, and habits? Does my content addresses those challenges, needs or interests? Am I saying it in THEIR words? The rods they would use?" This applies to all marketing - blogs, videos, podcasts, social media posts – everything!!
The next time you're updating your website, writing a blog post, or posting on social media, step into your client's shoes. Imagine their struggles, the hurdles they’re facing and the dreams they’re chasing. It's like chatting with a friend over coffee. You'd want to get where they're coming from. By tuning into what's on their mind, you'll find it easier to connect with people who are – or even are not - looking for someone just like you to help them out.
