One of the best parts of my role with Fulcrum Equity Partners is the virtual roundtables we host quarterly with functional leads at our portfolio companies. These sessions help our companies connect with their peers in sales, marketing, CS, and talent to share best practices and insights unique to growth-stage B2B software companies. We just wrapped up a great one with our marketing leaders. Some standout takeaways include: 1) Small Events are Driving Big Results Nearly all of our companies are using small, intimate events as a key part of their GTM strategy—and it’s working! These focused gatherings are helping foster deeper connections and stronger engagement with target audiences. 2) Meta is Thriving in B2B Advertising In an unexpected twist, several companies reported Meta (yes, Facebook & Instagram) as a top performer for B2B social media advertising. It’s worth considering (or revisiting) if you haven’t already tested the waters here! 3) Innovative Use of Webinars via Sequel.io and Goldcast We’re seeing a lot of creative energy around tools like Sequel.io and Goldcast, which allow companies to host engaging webinars and virtual sessions directly on their website. This strategy not only boosts engagement but also drives valuable traffic back to their own platforms. 4) Getting Better with Short-form Content Creation Several teams are actively exploring automated solutions to slice up long-form video into bite-sized social media clips and blog posts—an increasingly essential approach to scaling content efficiently. And that's a wrap! It was a whirlwind couple days for the Fulcrum Equity Partners team in Cleveland this week, but the #OhioVCFest24 conference was a hit. Tai Gordon and I met 50+ investors and founders doing big things in Ohio and the greater Midwest. We were particularly impressed by several companies transforming critical parts of the patient experience in healthcare. Huge shoutout to JumpStart Ventures for organizing a fantastic event and nailing the many small details that make a conference great. In addition to meeting great founders and investors, I caught a few innings of a Cleveland Guardians game. Progressive Field is beautiful. I've been to games at 24 of the 30 MLB ballparks and have six more to go! (Blue Jays, Nationals, Orioles, Rangers, Reds, and Phillies) Derek Schuster I'm going to make it to a game next season! Excited for my next trip to Cleveland and continuing to build deeper connections between Atlanta and founders/investors in the Midwest.?
