From Trainee to Employee - and beyond!

A Traineeship success story to inspire you and show you too can reach your own potential...Mary-Anne is a recent example of how pushing yourself outside comfort zones to do things you have previously not done can positively impact career opportunities. Her Certificate III in Work Health and Safety traineeship studied with us while developing her experience with the awesome team at MFE Pty Ltd Chinchilla, Surat Basin in QLD is an amazing story of success and enthusiasm and now, on-going employment...

MFE partnered with us to provide employment, training, mentoring support to enhance Mary Anne’s employability and gain a nationally recognised qualification through a Traineeship. MFE is a fabrication, maintenance and project management business specialising in delivering solutions involving fabrication and installations, lathe work, pump rebuilds and breakdown responses to resources, energy companies and small businesses within the Surat Basin.

The traineeship saw Mary Anne venture into an industry she had some understanding of due to her past work experience as a FIFO Camp Attendant. However, it also challenged her through with learning and dealing with legislation, incident reports, drug testing, computer systems, site observations etc. Mary-Anne’s Work Health and Safety theory training was managed by Harness Energy as the Registered Training Organisation and Senior Mentor Sharron Jackson's regular visits and interactions. Her hands-on day-to-day practical training was a team effort by MFE owners Greg McMahon and Louise McMahon , qualified supervisors and team members at MFE locations Chinchilla, Toowoomba and other work sites.

Greg and Louise are passionate about social outcomes including supporting local jobs and the local economy. Louise declared that employing Mary Anne was a bit of a deep dive for MFE to venture into offering a full time #Indigenous Work Health and Safety #traineeship. Mary Anne had to overcome her limited computer experience and so MFE sourced external technology support which paid off as her confidence grew - she showed such an infectious enthusiasm for learning and work. She has consequently earned an ongoing position of employment within the MFE team as a Health and Safety Advisor.

Mary Anne expressed her gratitude to Harness Energy and MFE for the Traineeship opportunity and said that said she feels fortunate to work for MFE as they are an awesome company. Mary Anne is now interested in pursuing more study in the Work Health and Safety field to further enhance her knowledge and skill sets.
