Last week, I was in a Teams meeting discussing the core values of Capgemini with my colleagues. As we were talking, my 11-year-old son Anirudh overheard us and asked me what these values meant. I realized that I needed to explain these values in a way that even a 11-year-old could understand.
So, I came up with a few examples to help him grasp the concept of each value. For instance, for Honesty, I told him to imagine finding a toy that belonged to his friend and wanted to keep it. I explained to him that it's crucial to be honest and return the toy to his friend, even if it means he won't get to keep it. This way, he'll learn to tell the truth even when it's hard.
Then, I talked about Boldness and how it can be scary to try new things. However, it's important to be brave and take risks, as that's what makes us stronger and successful.
For Trust, I used an analogy of a best friend that you can always rely on no matter what. I explained to him that at Capgemini, we trust each other to do our best and make the right decisions. We empower each other to take ownership and responsibility for our work because trust is the foundation of any successful team.
Next up was Freedom, and I talked about how we encourage creativity and thinking outside the box. We respect each other's differences and cultures because diversity makes us stronger.

I explained that Fun is important too, just like how he likes to play games with his friends. At Capgemini, we enjoy what we do and take pride in our work. We celebrate our accomplishments and enjoy working together to achieve our goals. Having fun is key to building strong relationships and achieving success.
Modesty is another value that I talked about with him. I gave him an example of someone who brags a lot about themselves and how it's not something we should do. At Capgemini, we're down-to-earth and humble, and we always try to be kind and respectful to others. We know that being modest is what makes us approachable and trustworthy.
Finally, I talked about Team Spirit and how we work together and support each other to achieve our goals. We're loyal and committed to each other, and we share the benefits of our success. Working together as a team is what makes us strong and successful.
