Usually, I prefer to use social media to share success stories and achievements, not initially with the aim to take pride but with an idea to share best practices to motivate...
But this time, I want to share one great????????????????????? ???? ??????????????.
Dijar (my son), whom most of you get to know through his Math rewards and recognition, was once again part of the????????? ?????????????????? ?????????????????????? this year. Despite his outstanding achievements in local and regional math competitions, he faced failure at the national level.
The reason for this failure had nothing to do with his knowledge in Math (thank you to many of you who have asked). This time, he stumbled upon unfamiliar factors we had never encountered or maybe neglected. Let me explain it simply: he got stuck on the first question for an hour, which was supposed to be the easiest task (the first out of four), and then experienced a mental block... he couldn't continue further, he boycotted by storming out of the exam out of??????????????????????? ?????? ????????????????????????????. What hurt Dijar most was carrying the responsibility of trying not to dissapoint me, his mentor, his school and all of the people that believed in him.

It became evident that????????? ????????????????????, ?????????? ??????????????, ?????? ?????????????????? ???????????????????? were the challenges he faced. This learning outcome made me reflect on our actions and behaviours towards our kids. Sometimes, we neglect the crucial aspect of their mental health. I put so much responsibility on him, always with the best aims, without thinking that it may have a negative outcome.
We need to provide??????????????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????? ????????, ?????????????????? ???????????????????????? ?????? ????????????????????, ?????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ???????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ????????????????????, ?????????????????? ????????-????????????????????, ?????????? ?????????????????? ??????????????????, ?????? ?????????? ?????????????? ???????????????? to support their mental growth.
I must admit, this is one of our greatest learnings from this journey. Soft skills and personal growth of our kids matter more than we think.
This post is dedicated to all kids who have experienced failure, for any failure is a stepping stone towards a better version of yourself. Today, we are here for Dijar, tomorrow for anybody who goes through the same critical moment. Mental health will always, ALWAYS be the number one goal.

1 年There is nothing wrong with failure. We need more environment where we all can fail and reflect on our effort. Having the mentorship and coaching so that we can do it different and many better next time. Btw, he really is a image of his father!

1 年One of the rare moments that I completely disagree with you. Like you say we need to provide ?????????????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????? ????????, encourage them in their adventures, but instead, you characterized his performance in the competition as "him facing failure". Children reflect on us and look for our approval for everything they do. Declaring something they did a "failure" sends a very bad picture to them and everybody around them. Imagine him reading this post, and seeing that you are talking about him publicly in this manner. Reaching this point where he is now in terms of math knowledge, takes a lot of effort, time and perseverance, so not scoring a satisfactory placement in the competition can be characterized as a temporary setback, a good learning experience, or maybe just a fluke on that day (we all have good and bad days), but is in no way a failure, just another step to success. At the end, I leave you with a video on failure which sums up everything I said: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mXGSjnUvSM
